Hand shift?
« on: June 09, 2016, 01:55:10 PM »
Anyone done it?
Custom or sourced an existing part?

Curious as to options and parts.

My disabled friend made his sidecar CB750A totally hand controlled.
Installed a rod from the change pedal up to the side of the petrol tank and the rear/parking brake to the left hand using a GL1000 clutch lever.

Was that custom made or an existing part?

I cut off the splined part of the mechanical kickstand neutral switch and welded it to an old Hurst Indy shifter.  Just watch the weight of it and the angle you mount it at.  I ran mine like this for a bit before I mounted it more vertically.  One to many potholes where it would unexpectedly shift itself.   :P

I like leaving it foot shifted and letting people search for the clutch lever

I inquired about this on another forum, but couldn't get an answer. If i remove the kickstand connection from that secondary shifter, will it function as a normal shifter, or is it only a safety mechanism? I mean, from the looks of it by your photo, it can function as a normal shifter.

yes it will work.the other linkage was from the kickstand.when you put the stand down it put the trans in neutralso you could start it without the bike running away
