Brent, I had my eye on the Motion Pro stuff but wasn't sure what would work with stock carbs. Here is what I found:

like brent, im all for ebay R1/R6 (or also GSXR) clutch levers. make sure you have some spares for falls and other fun occurrences.

Unlike brent i use complete OEM throttle assemblies, the ZX-6R ones are extremely easy to assemble and i like the fact that cable exit direction is parallel to the handlebar. like with levers there's always a spare one in my parts box.

The cable "cam" is different. It acts like more of a quick twist (but not as radical). Very popular mod...I have several R1 tubes on hand

There's your answer, thanks Mike. Cables are push #01-0233, and pull #01-0234, but better decide on what throttle you use first. If TG uses a stock setup that might save work.

For sure have spares of everything.

throttle tubes interchange quite a bit across models, depends really on the carb pulley diameter and how "quick" you want it.

I upgraded from the stock CB750 throttle housing to the Venhill kit last year... it made a huge difference. 

I didn't realize until I had the Venhill,  which has a larger spool than stock, how much throttle I was leaving behind.  You just can't get to full open throttle easily coming out of a turn without contorting your wrist using the stock throttle control.  The Venhill comes with two spools, and I'm not even using the more aggressive one.

I assume the MotionPro gets you to the same place, but I wasn't sure if it would fit.  The Venhill doesn't require any modifications.  You do have to make your own cables (with the materials provided in the kit) but that was pretty straight forward, and now I have cables that fit perfectly.

Lever perches 14-0114 16.00  They are left hand, so the one on the right is upside down. The levers are aftermarket Honda brake and clutch bought off eBay.  See that Motion Pro offers dog leg levers.

Alright, I ordered the setup Martin is using except for the black housing instead of chrome, using stock cables. The 0233 and 0234 cables would not fit my stock carbs according to Motion Pro so I went what will (hopefully) be the path of least resistance. Custom cables are $42 instead of $12 so I went with stock length.

I am also giving the clutch perch and lever a try from them since they were reasonably priced. I ordered spares of each just in case.

The Brembo 12mm master cylinder is coming from Bevel Heaven with a spare lever as well. Based on his suggestion I am going with Motul RBF 660 DOT 4 fluid. After reading up on his claims, its is one of the best out there in terms of boiling point, and I figure hauling ass around a track on a CB750 with a single front brake, there is no sense in skimping by using cheap fluid. At this point, this should be about as well sorted of a brake as can be purchased for any price that meets class rules.

Waiting on a set of rearsets from ebay as well. Just basic units but should work for my purpose. I will need to get some linkage bits from Fast From the Past once they are mounted but that shouldn't be a big deal. I am still toying with how to mount the rearset plates. I was going to use the same method Haybus used, with a steel strip welded to the frame for an aluminum bracket to bolt to, but now am considering a few steel bobbins welded there instead. I suppose either will work, so we'll see.

Good brake fluid is wise and I replace every season. I have been using BelRay (from my friendly dealership) and last year used some DOT4 labelled for Suzuki because no stock of my usual. That is the first time I experienced braking problems from high heat. Back to BelRay Racing fluid this year. I wouldn't pretend that BelRay is the best, only to say to avoid cheap #$%*. Use from a sealed container & change it frequently.

Big progress this weekend. The steering stem was completed and pressed into its new home in my custom triple trees.



Clipons, clutch cable, throttle, master cylinder and grips all ready to go.

The front wheel is on and new spacers made for the wider trees. I need to space out the rotor a bit more to fit the new wider trees and that will be buttoned up. Just waiting on Race Tech for fork guts and shocks.

The seat is all mounted on its aluminum subframe and the tank is at the radiator shop getting a full treatment of rust hold fixes and Redcoat lining.



Rear end is buttoned up as well, with new spacers for the axle as well as spacers for each side of the pivot. Everything is lined up and ready for the 520 chain to fit my Rebel Gears sprockets.

Major items left:

Mount tach
Mount number plates
Paint seat/tank/belly pan
Mount belly pan
Carb work
Finish wiring

At this point its all I have. Race Tech has been pretty lax on comms and the order went in March 1. Starting to get nervous.

Lots going on right now, despite my lack of progress pictures.

Here is the bike as it was on Saturday:



I have everything just about buttoned up. All of the plumbing is run, as is wiring to everything that needs power.

A few last hurdles include steering stops/damper mount and rear sets. I pulled the bike down to a bare frame right after the picture above and starting finalizing some things as they came off, including buttoning up the front wheel, complete with safety wire (just for practice)



I have the rear set bungs tacked on and will be working on belly pan tabs and steering damper mounts the next couple of days then one more trip to the welder to finish the welds, then off to paint.

The closer I get the more I seem to be spending, on things that just pop up that I have forgotten about. A new gas can. Ferodo CP1 racing brake pads. Handfulls of nuts/bolts. The list goes on.

Still waiting on Race Tech, and when I spoke to them last week they said it would be this week when they would get finalized and shipped. Fingers and toes crossed.

I know that feeling, the final month before the race weekend gets really expensive... especially as you start to spring for expedited shipments.

Less than 30 days... yikes... I've got to get my bike out of the trailer and the cobwebs dusted off.  Speaking of which, I need to get the trailer inspected.

I look forward to meeting a fellow SOHC'er as well. You're in Sportsman 750 as well right? Did we find that we met at Barber or no? I walked around with my uncle Jeff Hargis trying to find any 750/4 we could to check out.

I just talked to the body shop and they will paint all three pieces for $200. Nothing fancy, just a single color, down and dirty.

The frame goes to the welder one last time for rear sets and belly pan tabs, as well as the oil tank which is getting some safety wire tabs. I may be going a bit crazy on safety wire, but I am taking the rules to heart and I don't think anyone with have an issue with a little bit more safety wire than required, rather than any less.

I am so close I can taste it, but I know something is bound to pop up, but I do still have a few weeks, so if I can keep working on things every day, I'll get there with time to spare.
