CB750K2 clutch repairs and upgrades
« on: June 13, 2016, 10:07:59 PM »
My clutch has been slipping lately so I ordered and received a new set of Honda clutch springs. On Wednesday afternoon I'm going away for a couple of weeks and my CB750K2 is my only transportation right now, so avoiding down time when I'm home is critical. The plan was to pull the clutch apart Wednesday morning to install the springs and I'll check all the plates and discs while I'm in there. That way if I find anything that needs to be replaced I can order the parts on my way to the airport and collect them on the way back in.

I've heard about various ways clutches are modified to reduce rattle but I couldn't find specific information on parts numbers. I've also heard there is a cheaper fix and a more expensive and effective fix but still no specific parts listed. I'm told there is even a service bulletin on the subject but couldn't find it, just mentions of it.

Is it worth the trouble to swap all these parts out or is it a minor improvement? Are Honda clutch parts the way to go? Anything else I need to know? Yes, I already have the special tool for pulling the clutch.

Somewhere I thought I had a paper copy of the service bulletin that outlines the modification. I'll look for it.

I performed the mod on my 750 and it does cut down on the rattle.

DH - Thank you, that looks like the one.

Jonsey - Did you do the field fix or the factory fix?

I did the factory fix- deeper clutch basket, spring disc, clutch center and cover.
