One of my Buchanan Rims are done

This is not me holding it: Im brown LOL

I cant wait to get my hands on these wheels to get them on my bike!

Should have had that hub vapor blasted by Noblehops before it was laced to something so nice. 
Looks half-done, imo. :-\

 Still looks damn good though. One of these days I'll quit messing around with vintage mag wheels and have a set of lightweight wire wheels built.

 Been thinking about that for my next 550 project: lightweight wheels, upgraded suspension, brakes, etc. Focus on handling and stopping.

But if youve seen my bike youd know the way that rim came out fits exactly to the "mad max" worn look of it. I dont want ANYTHING on the bike too polished.

The Excels look great

You could probably. Still mask the bearings and vapor blast the hub,don't think it will hurt the stainless spokes..

I would cleaning if he can..although I run a pretty ratty unclean bike.. If he ends up cleaning the bike up..it's already. Done... If he let's it get a bit of grunge initial he gets the. Other look... Can go both ways.. But very hard to clean it up on the bike..

Agreed, Frank.  After that kind of investment, I would vapor blast the hub.  It'll give a nice, even matte finish.  The freshly finished rim and shiny spokes do not say dystopia to me.  Are you going to distress the rim and spokes?

Hmmm. I will consider it but like i mentioned, I dont want the wheels looking too clean. Remember my bike has a "deconstructed" look. Photo below:

Sorry I won't do the Instagram..but have seen your bike..way cleaner than mine which has not been washed in 3000+ miles and about nine months.
 But what I was trying to tell from experience,  is that if you clean the hub, you have choice of two looks.. Don't clean it..you only have grunge look..

In that case. my preference is .pristine spokes and rim, tattered hubs. I cant debate my choice and tastes anymore. Of course I realize ppl do things differently, and how it is, is how I want it.

I have thought about going to Excel rims before. How much weight savings is there from stock?

Good question.  I haven't measured the different weights but by feel they are significantly lighter than stock.

Thinking about what you guys said. I just might have the hubs blasted while Buchanans still have them. Can this be done with the wheel intact? or will they have to disassemble them?
