Anyone know of a Stainless Steel production motorcycle?
« on: June 15, 2016, 06:32:55 PM »
Just wondering as someone to day said she could have sworn one was mass produced for a few years. I never heard of it. Whom here knows of it? Pictures and information would be appreciated. I would like to impress her.  8)

Good looking bike.  I think I should buy one and park it next to my stainless fridge and range.

No idea why anyone would want to fabricate with stainless like that has to be one of the toughest metals going for that.

That bike looks like one that I see on a regular basis in my neighborhood.

How easy is the making depends on what  SS was used.  Generally SS is any steel with more than 10.5% of Cr.  But other additives are added for specific purpose and to alternate the crystal structure.

But SS is heavier than aluminum, there is not much reason to make stainless steel bikes.

I don't agree aluminum need twice the material to have the strength.
Can't see a stainless triple treatment 1/2the thickness...

Not even close.

Too many design requirements to make simple rules about how much of this material vs. that material is needed.  Too many alloys of each as well.

Stainless can also have real problems with cracking on top of all that.
