Wedding Gift Cash Amount
« on: June 16, 2016, 05:11:16 AM »
Just wanted to get peoples' opinions on this. I'm going to a wedding on Saturday and I am one of the groomsmen. They don't have a registry, but even if they did I'd probably just give cash.

This is a good friend of mind. Known him since middle school. Kind of really close friend where I'll call him a f@g and say I hope his kids turn out fat and ugly.

What's a good dollar amount? I have a number in my head but wanted to see what you people thought.

50 bucks sounds like a fair amount. Did you have to rent a tux etc. or is this more of an informal event. I've had a few greenbacks leaving this summer with a bunch of grad parties. I LOVE CAKE  :D

50-100 is typical for someone involved that closely.

No tux rental. We did suits and I bought it and got it tailored. That was up to me because I wanted a grey suit.

I've been reading anywhere from $50-$300, haha.

I was in a similar situation recently. I bought him a bottle of Lagavulin and gave them $100. We drank the whisky the night before the wedding.

Yeah I could do a bottle of rye and give it to him tomorrow night. I love me some rye whiskey.

$50-100 is a good range -- with the higher especially if you're a groomsman.  They did save you the $100 in tux rental.

Thanks guys, my initial thought was $125. I'll probably get him a bottle of booze and $100...I'll end up drinking most of it though. :)

Nice CycleRanger, haha. A great friend!

If they are having a catered event you have to at least cover the cost of your plate with a +1 their plate also. Your original thought of $ 125 would be bare minimum and probably a bit low.

200 bucks, a half-empty bottle of booze - and you have to sing at their wedding.

Depends on your station in life..unemployed..or just scratching by.....lesser amount..
If you are doing well  or are bucksup, more... I dont think anyone should suffer to give them the happy occasion.
But keep in mind, you are in the wedding party..which usually Means a gift for you from him,  so keep that in mind..

I don't think so. The little CL200 I have that I'm fixing up to sell was his. She made him get rid of it and he's complying perfectly. I may need to get him a piece of JWilde's clothing line to accompany his new found castration.

Still thinking of between $100 and $125 plus a bottle of booze. I don't mind singing at the wedding, haha.

Bachelor party is done already and there were zero strippers! It was a good time none the less because we drank heavily and saw Bill Burr up in Maine.
