Found these 2 small metal pcs (1cm per pc) when I removed the oil pan.

Is the left one tapered, like a gear tooth?

Left one is exactly the same as the right except for that middle canal, left one is straight.
The bike runs smooth, previous owner said they had to fix/replace the gear before because when it's in gear it keeps popping back to neutral.
Maybe that was the culprit of the previous problem?

They would of had to probably split the case to fix that problem mentioned and one would think they would have seen those in the pan then. These posts make me afraid to peek in my pans !!   :D

If it's only 10mm long, and gear tooth shaped, it would probably. Be from kicker gear or oil pump drive...it would not be from a jumping out of gear scenario.

I found the exact same thing in my pan with my 500. Two broken teeth. I looked for broken gears and never found one. Rebuilt the engine and it runs fine. I suspect it was from the kick starter because mine doesn't always engage properly. I have to roll the bike sometimes to get it to engage.

You'll wanna contact your deity of choice and get some help making these parts into kicker ratchet/gear assembly parts.  if it's from your transmission, obviously, it's more of an "Oh no, why me?!" sort of thing.
I recently restored and sold a 77 cb750f, and am nearly finished with a (former basket case) cb750k5.  This is a place to share, learn and enjoy.  I am grateful to and for 99+% of this site's membership.
