Rhonda was a one-kick pony up until a few weeks ago... Now only kicks when she feels like it.

After:

1: Replacing my carb boots because they were cracked
2: PERFECT vac sync (no rattle at idle now!)
3. Setting static timing just right

It feels like this bike will never start with kick. light pushes to get it to compression, up and down hard... NOTHING. I used to be able to kick start no problem, even when it was +2C outside. Feels like there is no resistance when I kick, almost. It just seems so strange. Sometimes it'll go first kick, but most of the time I get out of breath and resort to the push start, and she fires right up.

Then I got my HM Ignition...

4: Installing HondaMan ignition module
5: Setting my dynamic timing spot on with timing light

I thought this would fix the problem, but still no kicking! :(

Nothing else was changed.

Ideas welcome...

This may sound dumb, but I made this mistake last night in a stressed out hurry.

I Tried kickstarting in gear while holding the clutch!

Oops  :o

Biggest thing to a 1-2 kick motor I've found is Dyna S, 3 ohm coils, and iridium plugs. With a strong spark that setup will split the hydrogen out of water and ignite it. Every CB750 I've owned had got this treatment, makes starts easier and throttle response crisper especially when cold.

Yeah coils and plugs are certainly not the issue.

Moment of clarity when riding home... Sometimes a major vac  leak can cause rich running, correct? Maybe I'm too lean now after correcting it? I richened my carbs 1/4 turn when I got home today. Will report tomorrow when I ride again from cold.

Seemed to be a better start the other morning.

Fuel screw is now at 1/2 turn out from seated. I should probably get some 42s in there...

I would think an air leak would create a lean condition. Is your choke working correctly or how does the bike react to choke. http://www.randakksblog.com/lean-vs-rich/
