Oil Change turns into flustercuck!
« on: June 19, 2016, 06:05:31 PM »
So being a responsible 1977 CB750F2 owner I set aside the day to do an oil change and some other maintenance/dress up stuff. When I went to drain the oil from the crankcase I noticed it was kinda gunky, thought oh well maybe I need to replace a washer or something. After draining it all and changing the filter I go to put the bolt back in and not even finger tight yet the threads strip on me.

Way to ruin my Fathers Day threads! I'm not even a father but it's ruined none the less.

So I guess I need a new oil pan. Can I use anything from K0-f3? Seems the gasket is the same for them all so must be same fitment?

Anyone got one they wanna ship me pronto? Let me know your price. Bonus if you're in Canada as well!

Pretty common problem.  Once you have seen the inside of the pan you will understand why.  Its pretty easy to drill and tap for a bigger drainplug.  However if you have to buy the bit, tap, and plug a used pan is possibly cheaper.  Note that the F2/3 pans have deeper fins, but any year will fit and function.
If it works good, it looks good...

Except for a Sandcast pan.

There are metric oversized plugs designed to cut new threads and bolt into the stripped hole as a replacement.
May not be a long term solution, yet can get you by for the season until you can do a permanent repair/replacement pan.

Well if I buy a used one it's just a quick swap no? It would just be a matter of shipping time for both right?
