So earlier I read cals reply and feeling like a dick for something so simple I fit a couple of 10cent diodes. Helps because now the gauge indicator lamps are flashing left light for left turn and right light for right turn. Fixed yah!! Turn round to look at rear blinkers and still not working!!!! F%#k. Same problem the rear light is flashing but indicators are dead as... Sooo 5 hrs later after pulling wires apart adding and taking away more diodes, multi meter getting a major work out I found the ground for rear light and blinkers that I had combined wasn't getting a proper ground... Something so bloody simple gives such a headache. I freakin hate electricity. Can't see it can't touch it and able to make grown men weep.. Now I just have to clean up all the wires I've pulled. Stupid electricity!!!!

So all the wiring is now fixed, well grounded and working as it should. Rang the guys at the machine shop to see how they are going with the rebore and head work. "O yes sir we were hoping to get onto yours in the next couple of weeks"...

In a bit of a holding pattern until engine parts return. Fitted tank, seat and finished all the electrics. Brakes all hooked up. God I love the proportions of this bike. A big thankyou to devon@cognito for the design and hope he's not too pissed about it being copied. wish I had half the talent to see things before they are built. Everything flows like it was from the factory.

A bit of work needed on Benji bike tomorrow. New front wheel bearings went in on rebuild but 1 has nipped up and grinding a bit. Will clean up garage while waiting. no1 son won't stop sitting on this thing and grinning like a mad man. I went out to shed before and caught him sitting on it with chin on tank. He was doing the ton just sitting there.

It looks like you used a DCC or Motolanna seat. Where did you source your taillight and how did you mount it?

Good spotting. The seat is indeed motolanna. Purchased through eBay. Wanted the dcc version but they were out of stock at time of purchase. Seat required minor modifications to fit. I had to take 2" off the front and modify the underneath to allow battery to fit. I purchased the 8cell battery instead of 4 so sometimes we need to modify things to make it all come together.  Rear light is a cheap unit again from eBay. The licence plate holder is original Cognito moto.

Looks good.  How did you modify/re-secure the seat upholstery -- staples?

Seat modifications were pretty easy. The upholstery was glued down so it peeled back with minimum of fuss then in with the grinder and trimmed the nose off. I was then able to use all the over hang of upholstery and pull it tight before sticking it back down with contact glue. A few rivets with washers attached so as to grip more of the upholstery were then placed around the edges. I had to cut out part of the seat hump  to give me room for the battery to fit. We cut out a section of the foam leaving enough so as not to be able to feel it through the seat when sitting on it. Made a new fibreglass indent that the battery now sits nicely in.

Spent most of the weekend giving no1 son driving lessons. Passed his learners no problems. Did a bit of remedial work on benjie bike front bearings needed replacing. One Was completely shot. Flopping all over the place. Over tightened the axle nut first time around. There was a bit of a break in the weather this arvo so went for another shake down ride. Did a clean 100klm with no problems. Really statTing to free up now. Hard to wipe the grin off when riding.  I'm looking round for a suitable backdrop to get a professional photo shoot done on the bikes. Found this door next to a cafe. Not sure yet but will keep hunting. Good coffee from the cafe tho! That was a bonus was only 7celcius today.

 :) who got a phone call from hpe performance today! Head and cylinders all finished and ready to install. External lines came up a treat. I love when passionate people do a stunning job. Well that's the weekend taken care of.

I had already resealed cases when I was deciding to do external lines. After a bit of study and talking to several people I went with grub screws in head and drilled and tapped case to barrel dowels fitting 8mm grubs. Plenty of loctite so they don't move. I think it was turboguzzi who did the same.

Started fitting pistons and couldn't get grudgeons in far enough. A quick check showed they were too long. A bit strange I thought. Anyway off to work to borrow engineers lathe. No 1 son now knows how to trim on a lathe. Had to remove 3.5mm to get them to fit. Started fitting valves. Only got 2 done before ran out of time. Not enough hours in the day at the moment. Rest will have to wait till tomorrow

Valves all done. New webcam hard welded rockers installed. Tacho blank off plug fitted. Oil cooler arrived today. Need to organise lines and make up a bracket to fit to frame. Need more hours...running out of time!!!

so a lot can happen in 11 days. started installing pistons and snagged oil ring on no3!! #$@##$. Dynoman replacement arrives 5 days later. being bright I got 2 sets just in case. While waiting I finished off display floor for the upcoming show. Had to plane sides of planks and stupidly took top of index finger off. luckily only had the planer set at 2.5mm.... Index finger now 2.5mm shorter!! trip to emergency and they glued it back together. inbetween work entered the NZ Pie competition and we won a gold. quick trip up to Auckland to receive the award and then back home. so finally get up this morning and into it..2nd ring in no2 snagged..$#**&!!! slow down and coffee time to regroup. eventually everything comes together and motor is all buttoned up. This thing is fighting us at the moment.. anyway we install the motor into the frame in the morning. now what could go wrong with that!!

Chain fitted. Gear linkage all hooked up. Emblems all painted up and stuck back on. Had a hell of a time painting them. All wiring now completed. Just have carbies to fit and a heap of polishing. Still waiting for the cr carbies but not going to be here in time for bike show so I am stripping the standard ones and will give them a polish up. Unfortunately I won't be able to start ithe engine before I leave. No time to strip and set carbies up. Anyway hopefully will have the CR's as soon as we are back. Can't wait to hear this thing fire up

Done!! leave for the 2500klm road trip on Wednesday morning. Mates from Aussie flying in on Friday evening for show and road trip back. No1 son has time off school so he can look after us. I feel a face tattoo and waking up with tiger in the room could be on the cards.....

Returned from 2500klm road trip. only 2 pullovers. 1st 1 hour into drive for trailer warrant infringement and 2nd 20mins later for speeding. 6kmph over. Pocket now lighter by 280 big ones!!! some stunning bikes on display. thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. returned to an email from Godffrey telling me the CR carbies are on their way. A few small things to complete before we fire up first time. exhaust bracket, set timing and rockers. a few photos following of some tasty machinery!!

McIntosh F1 Suzuki. McIntosh also just finished building the Norton for Kevin Schwantz in time for Goodwood this year. attention to detail is stunning.

Local Honda dealer put together a rather nice interpretation of the Dick Mann Daytona classic. NZ legend Graeme Crosby had one of his KZ street fighter series on display. mmmmm I might have to start saving!!!
