It appears to be a copy of or the same unit that is being sold by Charlie's Place, minus the gold anodizing.

There's a thread about these over at the Twins forums.
http://www.hondatwins.net/forums/50-electrical-discussion/44581-tytronic-ignition.html

A couple of the guys over there have installed them and they work.
They said they would report back with any issues.

The price point is certainly attractive.

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,67543.msg744943.html#msg744943

I would use his before considering the Tytronic.

The smoothness comes from getting those points spot on.  I have a dwell meter, but sometimes I don't feel like messing with them.

If I was going to travel any distance I would want Hondaman's unit as it has a backup in place.

not sure I would be very excited about trying any ignition that is actually mis-assembled in its own ebay ad.  Nobody has a problem with the wires covering the timing mark window?

+2 for Hondaman

I have to  laugh at this. Here we have but another ignition system choice and all I see is a bunch of NSers come out of the wood work. Looks well enough made to me. I'm sure if you routed the wires carefully away from the window you could see the timing marks. Who knows maybe you could flip the pickups around if it bothered you. Easier than mounting and hiding a big HM ignition box under the seat somewhere (which I happen to have well hidden BTW)   You haven't tried it, you don't know, so basically that opinion is worthless.

Or do you just feel like supporting another technology stealing Chinese corporation that employs (effectively) slave/child labor over an American entrepreneur?  ??? To dismiss the opinions of others as "worthless" has devalued your own opinion as far as I'm concerned.

Hell, I'd go for a Pamco ignition if I thought the Hondaman unit was too cumbersome for the same reason.

After the Taiwanese cam chain tensioner debacle I've become an even more discerning consumer:

nor have you tried it, and your opinion appears to be contrary to visual evidence that the maker of this ignition put in their own ad.

I saw these on Charlies place very early on when they came out, I seem to remember seeing the original ver 1.0 then ver 2.0 and now we are on ver 3.0. I have seen these listed on ebay as well and i couldn't help but think they look like the first ver 1.0 or ver 2.0 units.  Now i donno where Charlies Place is having these made but my guess is China. If im correct I bet the company is selling them under their own name....

I can't confirm this but based on what i have seen this is what I think is likely happening.

Except that Charlie's ignitions are all stamped "Made in USA" which of course must mean they are 100% manufactured in America.

I dont have a problem with China at all. I would much rather buy certain things from china. For instance, this beautiful Lenovo laptop that I'm typing this on.... For stuff motorcycle and car related, I try my best to use local business's or stuff made in America. Why? Because I can tell you first hand how China is destroying the automotive industry... Anything I can make out of straight pipe, with little exception, can be had on ebay for 2/3 of the price that I charge to make it. What people forget is that if it doesn't workout, I can fix it. China cannot. Good luck getting it to fit correctly. Then, when all the exhaust shops are out of business and you need a custom pipe made for some ridiculous turbo project, or you need your Chinese pipes modified because some 11 year old sweatshop laborer measured wrong before he migged his eyeballs out... well.. good luck with that too.

The point is, forget for a minute the quality issue, or lack there of. Lets say these ignitions are just as good as the rest, why buy it from over there. Also, the hondaman ignition isn't cumbersome at all. You just have to be creative where you hide it.

Or display it! I might just mount mine on top of the fuel tank!

Well put by the way.  8)

Granted, there are goods that are nearly impossible to source domestically. I am more conscious of the impact that purchasing goods produced locally can have and try to make an extra effort to do so.

Who knows? There may even be a Harley in my future...  :o  ;)

Don't knock it until you've tried it mate, I love my American made Harley. Both those Chinese ignitions and Charlie's ignitions are just ripoffs of the venerable Dyna S anyway, so I'd rather just buy the real thing. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I've ridden a few. A Dyna Glide, a Switchback, and even a stretched out custom that was right at 10 feet long (three meters for you metric users  ;) ). I could certainly find one I could live with! Of course, I enjoy just about any sort of two wheel conveyance, although a bicycle is too much like work sometimes...  ;D

Yep, bicycles are over-rated, but can easily be turned into useful vehicles, just by stuffing as many engines as you can fit into one............... ;D

It really is mate, and great fun overtaking cars in slow moving traffic. ;D
