Honda 750 1975 front brake cable
« on: July 12, 2014, 12:49:02 PM »
Hi jack here. New to forum.
Appreciate your help
Front disc caliper seized. Cleaned piston and cylinder. Final step connection brake cable to cylinder won't form seal. Brake fluid leaks out of point where closing screw meets hose. Am I missing a washer or did I strip screws and now won't go down fully
Thanks. Jack

Welcome Jack.

Your question is a little confusing and should be posted in the Tech section.

First off, K5 does not have a brake cable, do you mean hose?
Is it leaking where the hard line is connected at the caliper, near the bleeder screw? [The master cylinder is up on the bars]
If yes, that is not a common place for a leak, are the threads buggered in the caliper?

New to this so thanks for advice. Correct. Problem is where hose meets caliper. Screw fails to seal fully and on pumping brake lever, fluid escapes from top of screw.  This is where the rigid brake fluid hose goes into the screw. Should I have found a washer or gasket? Or is the screw not screwing in fully? Screw gets tight before I exhaust all the threads. Will load a video if can get to work.
Thanks
Jack

No, there is not a washer or gasket where the hard line attaches to the caliper, it is a compression fitting.

One last thing. Live in Dublin Ireland. What is best site to order from. Likely  will be from UK.
Thanks. Jack

Hi Jack.....I saw your video but can't tell what the issue is.  I would try replacing the hard pipe.
Here's the link to your video...

Your best bet for ordering parts will most likely be David Silver Spares....

Once again, you may want to post this issue in the tech section, someone may have had this same issue and offer a solution.
