I don't think 100 degrees hurts anything..as long as it's out of the UV rays.. And dry..

They make 120 V ductless systems, tt.  Order it up!

http://www.homedepot.com/p/DuctlessAire-12-000-BTU-1-Ton-DC-Inverter-Ductless-Mini-Split-Air-Conditioner-and-Heat-Pump-120-Volt-60Hz-with-25-ft-Complete-Kit-DA1215-H1/205934520

Put something similar to this in my work room in Tempe, cranked it up half an hour before going out to work. Was still very warm in there but kept it decent enough to be able to work for a few hours without passing out.

This was my main concern. Running the calculators you factor in 10% for lack of shade and another 10% for the area. Multiply that out and your looking at a 14k unit or above. This puts you back to a 220V system and the added expense.

The 12k unit would keep it decent (maybe) but given the temps it would run forever.

This quagmire has haunted me for years.

Couple years back I special ordered a 2 inch insulated door out of Utah. Amish built.  :)
Oh yeah, those Utah Amish, renowned craftsmen known for their fine workmanship of plastic and machined metals. ;)

Even if I'm not in the shop I don't think 100*+ is good for the bikes long-term. Bad for the plastic, rubber, and batteries.
I usually move them to the garage where it's cooler but as of late I've run out of room.  :-\

- I haven't "done The Fair" since ~1980 or so and I haven't lived in Washington since '84. But I still get up there to visit family.

I could dig out the receipt but going from a 1 7/8 insulated to a 2 inch was under $70. Installer told me it would take a week to get it. OoooKkkk was my reply. No brainer.

For me the biggest bang for the buck would be a thermal barrier on the underside of the roof.

For me it would be a Summer home. Make this location my Winter home.

I hate hind sight.

Cabin in Pine Top is a nice solution TT. Very pretty area. But, you end up trading lots of things for the remote and peace and quiet as cell and internet aren't as wide ranging or as fast in that area if it mattered.

Doing some reading on the 110V, 20 amp unit at Home Depot. It also takes a dedicated service line.

So, if that's the case then might as well do a 220V line. Although it's not code I have a 220 line in the garage for the dryer. You can not tap into the line (code again) but I could run a proper cord, or enclosed wire, to the AC unit with a shut off box. Unplug dryer, plug in AC unit. Vice versa for laundry. Would be about 25 feet.

Would be the least expensive method although not the best.

Go for it!  Make it comfortable in the garage so you can enjoy working in there whenever you wish.

Thats the next step for me too. Not terribly far from you, in Las Vegas. I put in a swamper which is great until temps reach around 100. It cant keep up in the 110's+ and I don't even want to be in the garage!

Yeah, I think it's time. Great Winter project. No way I would do it now.

Not an electrician but a 8/3 wire should do it. Want to check out LG and a few others.

No need to heat so I'll go cool only, 1 1/2 ton, DC inverter.

Example.

We had that style at work, forget the brand. They installed them in a server room as it was running way too hot for just the normal AC to cope. The room was probably 14x12 or 16x12 and those servers cranked out the heat.  It did the job but the installers didn't do it quite right and it had an oil leak on the inside unit.

If you can do it yourself, all the better. Don't have to convince the installer to look the other way on the wiring.  Odds are they wouldn't because if there was a fire it would come back on them, regardless of any verbal. Couldn't do a written agreement, would be illegal for them to do so...could lose their license or face a heavy fine.

You'll have to hire an installer to at least charge the system with freon if AZ is like TX.
Here, you cannot buy freon without an HVAC license, I have tried.
Luckily I have a buddy who is a Mechanical contractor, so he will help me out when I am ready.

Working on a head gasket on my daughter's 05 Civic. I'm waiting on parts but still in the tear down stages. Probably go out to the garage and shaded driveway around 7pm. Hope I don't burst into flames!

Won't need an installer Steve but yes, it comes pre-charged but a service man could care less who installed it. He is there to charge it.

I get a house service twice a year so I'll verify with him at that time.

From what I have read if I installed the unit no warranty.

That is so typical of so many warranties  :( >:(   They think if you aren't a licensed installer that you aren't going to do it right.
I would buy reman'd steering racks to replace worn out or worn units on my old 240 Volvos. The remanufacturer allowed you to do it if you showed them that you had filtered the oil for any metal shaving in the oil. If you had any metal shavings, then you had to replace the power steering pump and flush the lines. Another $150-175 from the cheapest sources, the racks were $250 plus core. I preferred the Cam manufactured racks over the ZFs as you could adjust the Cam racks to give you better road feel and a bit more pressure/feedback.
I had one that was a remanufacturer defective unit as it blew a seal in the cross over line between sides and I was in GA and living in Ohio. Rather than destroy my PS pump on the drive home I used Epoxy putty over that fitting that had lost it's rubber seal. It wasn't a high pressure line...just a balance line. It was leaking bad enough I would have had to refill the reservoir every 100 miles or less on a 500 mile trip home.  They refused to give me the core charge on the unit in the warranty. If I had known they were going to pull that I would have removed the putty before sending it back.

BACK on topic,
TOYTUFF,

There is a guy, Chris Dupen of NetBikes, on the VJMC email list (loosely affiliated with the VJMC which has pockets of good membership and club events in a few areas of the country but not in others) who is in AU and he favors old Suzuki's.
Give me a link to that photo you included and I will email the VJMC Email list to see if anyone can help, on a broader forum request.  To contact Chris Dupen down under, email him at netbikes@netbikes.com.au

Thanks!

If you thin it out with a little gasoline it should be fine.
