Exceptionalism
« on: June 08, 2016, 02:01:58 PM »

According to definition; EXCEPTIONALISM is not a word.  I however find it useful to describe the members of this forum and the service it provides to so many.  I would like to offer an example of which I have experienced many over the years that I have followed this forum.

Several weeks ago I posted an ad in the "wanted" section "panhandling" for a set of used and abused hard bags for my K5 daily rider.  I received several replies one of which was 70CB750 offering me a free set of Shoei's.  After several discussions and determining that shipping was inconvenient and costly and I was unable to make the drive along came CALJ737 who offered to drop off the bags on a trip through NC.  After a phone call this morning I now have a set of bags on hand dropped off a few miles from my home.

It was great to meet Cal and I can think of no way to emphasize the appreciation for both and he and 70CB for their contribution to my rolling piece of history.  I only hope that I can in some way pay this kindness forward!

Best Regards
Joel (Butch) Souther

+1
On top of this act of kindness I hear that Greenjeans has been a bit of a philanthropist.

Kudos!

That sure was a nice thing to do.

For the record, because I don't want anyone to get the wrong (favorable) impression about me, this entirely generous gesture was from 70CB (Prokop). It is he that deserves the lauding.

On my part, I was treated to meeting 2 very nice members (Prokop and Butch) and then Butch's mate, Mike. It was obvious to me within the first couple of minutes that Butch is actually the Mayor of his town, and Mike is the Deputy Commissioner. Every single person that passed or saw them, treated them as celebrity and as though they'd known the two of them for decades.

Judging by their age (I reckon Butch is near 130 years of age, and Mike is right behind) its quite possible they actually settled the town originally stepping off the Mayflower.  ;D Seriously though, they live in a great small town that was a real joy to visit however short it was.

Butch, fire up that K and come on down to Rockingham this weekend. I promise your town will still be there when you get back  ;)

Prokop has to redeem himself somehow after all he has insulted most of God's creatures.  No one is safe, not even wookies.  The horror!

Prokop is a self-reliant gentleman, after all he has harvested and eaten most of God's creatures.
