Frankly, I'm glad you had a change of heart.
I think you can mask the spokes and sand and lightly polish your hubs to a brushed finish. I still think the best option is to send the wheels complete to Nils and have him vapor blast the hubs, which will give them a nice matte finish.
Alternatively, you could mask the spokes and rims and paint the hubs black or silver.
Im not spending one more dime on these wheels lol. And I HATE headaches. HATE logistics and hate shipping stuff.

Well, if you are not disposed to shipping them or spending more money on them, that would seem to remove vapor blasting (at a local shop or to Nils) as an option.
I think you can still rough sand them OR mask the rims and spokes and sandblast them yourself. A sand blasting shop would not charge you much to do it, either. Then paint them black or silver if you want them painted. Alternatively, you can probably get them clean enough for painting with soda blasting, too.
Scotchbrite pads will work, too, but the labor will SUCK - the masking AND the scrubbing (having to avoid the spokes). Your fingers will likely thank you if you have them blasted with soda, vapor or sand instead.
