A source for M10x1.25 unicorn nuts?
« on: June 22, 2016, 06:14:15 PM »
Why are M10x1.25 acorn nuts so hard to find.....cheaply.
Especially in stainless.

Anyone have a secret source for these that doesn't charge ~2.50++ each?

Maybe they can help you or, steer you in the right direction. I've had very good success with the local store.

Thanks, been there. All they have is M10x1.5.

I was just going to reuse the rusty chrome ones I have but this morning I stripped one so I just gave up
and bought some off ebay for $2.30 each....

I should get on Alibaba and find someone in China who makes these and peddle them them myself!

A few years back i tried to find the exact type your chasing . I would have happily paid $2.50 each. Talk about hens teeth.

Oddly enough, there's a lot lug nuts available in this size.
But I figured they'd look a little strange if I used them for the headers.. ::)

These guys carry a good range in various material types, although they come with a healthy price ticket for the quality that is supplied.
I bought a set of Hex Head engine case screws from them a few years ago and they were the ducks nuts.
They have several sites world wide to purchase online.

If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

On a lark I checked Powersedge to see if they had any for a reasonable price (they don't), but you quit your griping.  Did you know the cylinder head acorn nuts on that Nighthawk I just about have running are 9 (!!)mm acorn nuts.

9mm!  I've seen 8, 10, heck even 13 - but never a 9mm bolt or nut in my life.

So what do those cost?

I know there must be at least one 9mm bolt on a CB750 because I had to buy a 9mm wrench for it. :)
But you are right, 9mm is rare.

They're 3.10 a piece from Honda.  Not the worst in the world - their bulk hose is the worst :), but still that's a dang sight more than the typical 0.65 a piece that they should run.

I need these acorn nuts for my XS650.
Yamaha wants $10.21 each....  a nut that was used on 100 different models from 1968 through 2002.
Although I'm sure their bulk hose is quite reasonable. ::)

search for ACORN, not UNICORN  ::) ;D

http://www.ebay.com/itm/honda-DOME-ACORN-NUTS-CHROME-size-10mm-x-1-25-thread-pitch-wrench-size-14mm-/391436994262?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368

4 for $8+

You are bidding on a set of 4 brand new HONDA chrome cap nuts in size 10mm, tread pitch 1.25,, and the wrench size used on the hex head is 14mm. The cap nuts will fit all the Suzuki models that require a 10mm cap nut....

Silly 750 K0 owners want their Unicorn triple tree nuts to be with horns too...yeah, I almost went there...

Squirrel's nuts , not mythical horse nuts

The Ace hardware had a special section for Motorcycle chromed fasteners.
They might have them unless Harleys use sae instead of metric fasteners.

Yeah, the unicorn reference was as in rare like one...  ;)

But I was looking for stainless.

Besides I don't want to commit miscegenation by installing Honda nuts on a Yamaha head! ::) ;D

So, you don't go, Ooooh, shiney!   with chrome nuts?
You would rather go, Aaaah, Stainless...

You are barking up the wrong trees as that dog apparently don't hunt.

I did some searching and found Nada, zip, zero also...
