New SOHC4 Owner Saying Hello
« on: November 20, 2006, 06:05:17 AM »
Hello,

I have recently purchased a 1979 CB650.  I'll be driving up to Ohio on Wednesday to pick up the bike and drop it off at my Dad's house, then drive back to Florida, where I live.  While it's at my Dad's, the motorcycle shop that does all his custom stuff is going to go through the bike and fix anything that needs fixing in order for the bike to be able to make the 800 mile trip down to Florida.  The bike is supposedly in great shape, with the exception of the charging system, which seems to be a common problem.

Anyway, I hope to ride it back to Florida in the next two months.

Immediate plans for the bike consist of the following:

Clubman bars
rebuild front caliper, master cylinder and reservoir
EBC shoes and pads
Galfer brake lines
fix charging system and anything else that needs it

After that, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, 4-1 exhaust, pods, cafe seat and tank, and probably some paint.

Welcome!!

Boy is that gonna be a cold ride here in the next 2 months.......BUUUUURRRR!! Not to mention.....probadly pretty icey. If there isnt any ice down......watch out for the left over salt. If the payment is dry and clean, but has a slight white cast....that is due to the salt being powederized and is very slippery. Been in 2 wheel slides getting off an exit ramps, from that stuff. Make sure to wear layers and something that will break the wind.

I remember when I moved back to Ohio, after living in Florida for 5 years............I was cold even during the summers. Once that blood thins......anything below 70F was....BBBBBUUUURRR!!

Good luck and enjoy the trip!!

Cold at 70?? Hell, it's going go to be in the 50's for Thanksgiving, I'm thinking of openting the pool back up!

Welcome to the club, Wulf!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.
