I ordered two 50ft rolls of 2in tape to do my 4 into 2 on a cb350f thinking 100ft would be plenty. I barely had enough to do one side, I had to rewrap several times. I got the cheapest ebay option, maybe the rolls weren't actually 50ft.

OK...any of you thinking doing header wrap for whatever reason, im gonna throw you an aesthetic bone. 
HOSE CLAMPS USCK.  Try these:  Stainless Zip Ties.   100 for $15
Benefits: You can hide the clamp end(spin them after you install)  They'll yellow like your new stainless exhaust can, and low profile enough for your exhaust flange to slide over when installing the header.



Old picture, but you get the idea.  I used 2 at the top of each header right next to the flange.  Trimmed out nicely.

Im wrapping my pipes, for better or worse.
4 into 1 exhaust. Only wrapping to where they join the chrome part.
Each exhaust pipe is 2"wide and 21-23inches long.
How my wrap will I need? Is 50' enough?

I am crap at math, but I did this anyway.

You have 2" diameter wrap and you want a 1" overlap. You have 4 pipes. Each pipe has a length of 36" (lets say).  You have a circumference of 3" around the pipe (let's say).  This gets you to the collector, where you have (let's say 12" of length and a 12" circumference.  Now you have actual numbers -- you don't need math. You just need arithmetic.  Keep your overlap even.  Have the wrap from pipe 1 end a couple inches before pipe 2 and that one a couple inches before pipe 3 and that one a couple inches before pipe 4. The "couple inches" is just for overlap purposes so there is no unwinding or unraveling. The pipe 4 wrap goes all the way to the end of the collector or wherever you want the wrap to end (it's too thick if you try to have 4 wraps fighting each other on the collector.

And do it with the wrap WET and the pipe underneath it already heat painted and cured so it doesn't rust under the wrap.

A practical way to test measure would be to wrap a piece of cloth/paper/whatever around the pipe at the desired intervals, measure the length of the material and multiply by length needed.

When I was a little kid... "arithmetic" was what you learned when there were only numbers in the equations.  Math is what it was called when they started sticking letters in the equations.  People are afraid of math but (generally) can handle arithmetic on both practical and emotional levels.

And to keep thread on topic, I have enjoyed the aesthetic of wrapped pipes. Prior to this thread corrosion and heat retention in a motorcycle exhaust had not even entered my mind. Silly me.

I could see the advantage of wrapping pipes in a bike that would get covered in full fairings.  Since it's really about managing under-hood heat in race cars right?

If it were a race exhaust, it would make more sense to ceramic coat the exhaust for weight savings.
