My first project CB 500 Four K1

I have been  waiting to start a project like this for years.  Finally got around to it.  The bike is now completely stripped and the frame plus other parts are in for powder coating.  The master plan is to start at the front and work my way back  The engine rebuild being the last challenge, mind you the wiring is not that flash hot!

Good luck with the resto, lots of blokes here with a lot of knowledge and sarcastic comments (which as we all know is the lowest form of wit)  to look forward to.
Use the tips area, read through other 500 builds to get clued up.

Nope the engine does not run. Not even sure if it has all of the internals yet!  Currently have Frame and all components powder coated. Next job is to start at the front and work my way back. The engine is going to be last thing I touch.

Finished the strip down.  Have now had the frame and other parts powder coated as you can see from the pictures.  Awaiting spares for the front end so I can start the slow job of rebuilding. Having fun at the moment. Wheel hubs getting sand blasted, then it is into lacing the wheels.

Need help. Have laced the front wheel but after putting the inner spokes in I cannot get the outer spokes to fit!!!!!
This is doing my head in!!!
Hopefully you will see what I mean. My guess is I have made an error with the inners but as all fit seems ok to me. Any advice gratefully appreciated.

Having to prepare for this exact procedure, my research tells me that you may have the spokes tightened up too far to allow movement of the hub inside the rim in order to get spokes inserted.  That is my guess.

I loosened all of the spokes and it still did not work.  I stripped the spokes out and started again, except this time I only laced one side with the inners only and still I had the same issue with the outer spokes.  Maybe  I just need more beer!!!!!

Elvarko, check out some how to spoke 500 rims on you tube. It took me 4 goes and it was doing my head in before it all clicked.
Look closely on the rim and you'll see the old marks left by the previous spokes, it'll help point you in the right direction.
