The quiet core seems to have a smaller pipe running through it whereas the straight core just looks like perforated baffle. I've asked cone engineering to make me a 12" quiet core but unable to for a few reasons that slip my mind. Here's some pics of my mufflers

Yes, I've looked closely at both, I've made baffles before, maybe I could just make a DB killer with a small screw fitting... I really just wanted to add some packing to the baffle, just something else to figure out. I really like the length and look of the 12 inch..  Thanks for the pics... ;)

That's for sure the 18" just doesn't look as good.

Any fitment issues with the centerstand compared to the 12" version? I have less than 1/8" clearance between the 12" and the stand. Looks like the longer muffler clears the same if not a little better, but hard to tell from the pictures.

It's honestly about the same.  I also made a custom center stand stop that mounted ofd the pivot bolt. I'd say there's 1" of clearance.

Is the baffle serviceable on the 12 inch cone muffler

I don't think they are without some serious hacking.

Hey Jerry,

Still waiting on the ride report.  Is it the 18" quiet core that much quieter than then 12"?

IMO it's quieter in a way where it still has the throaty sound but toned down so it's more bearable. If your an open pipe kind of guy then the 12" fits the bill. The quiet core with the increase back pressure gave me more low end grunt off the line.

This is the first thing I noticed as well.

You can see it tucked in here in my video. No further out than the pegs.

On the header paint topic since it was mentioned... I've never had luck with it. I've tried VHT and another high temp brand. It is all in the prep, but I think to prep best for rattle can you to have the chrome blasted off and if you're going to do that you might as well have them ceramic coated and never mess with them again. Shop around your area and you can prob find someone to coat for a good price. The only way to go (*IMO*) if you don't want chrome headers. And if you like the look of chrome headers there are some chrome-looking ceramic finishes out there - you don't have to just get black.

I've honestly considered that Evan. I just ride so often that I have been putting it off.

The 18" really sticks out there.

It comes straight back. It doesn't stick out on the side very much.

Mine doesn't stick out too bad either. Mind you, I'm using a stock F header off a 78 super sport so it doesn't really have the correct angle that I would like on it (as the F muffler had a bend in it)... but for now, it's pretty good.

For reference, mine is a MAC header and the first part of on of their canister mufflers. I just had the big part cut off and the cone fit right over it. That's how I can get a nice angle to mine.

Just waiting on finishing my motor and then I'm going to put on my Hindle.

Looks so nice.

DAHHH I'm so jealous, Love that exhaust. I was talking to Kemp for a while about getting one but man, with everything else going on...just not in the budget at the moment. The 4-2-1 supposed to make some great power and the craftsmanship looks PERFECT.... man.....sweet pipe

With the exchange rate and the discount they had at the time (not sure if it's still going on) I had to get it. Don't be so jealous. Right now it's just sitting on my floor. Probably will stay there until next spring, realistically.
