Hipsterific Instagram
« on: June 25, 2016, 04:31:12 PM »
In the age of kids trying to monetize their Instagram accounts and being obsessed with selfies on Instagram/Facebook/etc., I was inspired by watching The Secret Life of Walter Mitty the other day.

Beautiful things don't ask for attention.

Totally agree and really good movie. Great soundtrack and Iceland is a beautiful place.

I do like the hipster-ish bikes as long as it's a cafe type. But on a lot of accounts I used to follow it was the played out picture of $100 leather gloves on a rusty tank. With links to buy the gloves. It's all ad space now. Or the bubble helmet shot using a selfie lonely stick with a meaningless quote from some dead poet...with 5,000 likes and comments.

I see this both ways.  Is there alot of fakes or wantabees sure there is.  On the other side of the coin younger people in their 20s and early to mid 30s are able to reconize the world has changed and are willing to embrace the changes.

Us old farts have a tendency to get all pissy when someone moves our cheese.  I know people who have built up a following and done quite well for themselves.  Are they wearing huge beards and flannel NO!

Still they are doing quite well having realize the way the world works now is much, much different than in 1999 or even 2006.  We could have another 6 to 8 years of this internet thing before it disapers into the backdrop.

Yes.  Being your version of cool is not the issue.  It's being a pretentious narcissist screaming out to the world for attention that annoys me.

If I had the time to dedicate to monetizing an Instagram account, I'd do it in a hearbeat. Some get $500 a post, some get $10,000, some get upwards of $50,000. It's insane. It takes a ton of time, and considerably more work than most realize.
