« on: November 20, 2006, 04:48:44 PM »
39 degrees and on the road
had to get some gas for my 750
it all started putting on my new tag on the plate
figured might as well fire it up and tighten the chain and after that what the hell
take it for a ride

28 degrees F, with the sun just beginning it's way up.  60+ mile ride on the interstate each way (at about 80 mph or so).  No fairing or windshield.  That's my normal ride the past week or ten days.  Layers of fleece under the riding clothes.

Gotcha beat!   ;)  :D

'course, now we'll hear from someplace like Winnipeg, and they'll just blow us all away.

Did about an hour today at 40º Fahrenheit. 30-40/45mph along the ocean most of the way. Fingers were a little chilly as the new gloves aren't as good as I'd hoped. Didn't even have to wear my "good" boots. The bike has always seemed to like cooler weather...

It was 24 degrees F when I set out for the 14 miles to work.  I think it warmed up to 30 by the time I went to my other job, another 20 miles.  It was a balmy 45 for the 40 miles home.  I will ride until the roads are icy or snowy  ;D

Are you people out of your F%$#G minds ???(just kiddin'!!!) Hey, if you dress for the occasion,I suppose its cool (pun) but my personal observation is stay away from highway speeds when it dips below 40 degrees.Safe rides out there and don't be a popsycle just to save a coupla bucks of gas!!!!

I dunno, when it gets much colder I will not be riding on the interstate.  The wind chill factor is brutal.  Around town maybe; but definately not much more on the interstate.  (See my comments on hypothermia in another thread.  ;) )

We finally got a break in the weather, so I rode it in today.  33F right now, was probably 31/32F on the way in earlier. I just put a fleece on under my regular riding jacket.  The new windshield seems to help, but I max out at 45~50 mph and it's only about 15~20 minutes to get into the office so I don't really get cold.  Besides, I swear the bike runs better in the cold.

Most of my ride is above 60 MPH.  It is all about LAYERS.  I wear three layers on my legs, three shirts under my jacket plus the liner, balaclava, winter riding gloves.  It is still worth it to me to get 40 mpg.  I was kind of curious what the wind chill would be 24 F at 75 MPH myself.

25F, 60 mph = 3F.  The chart tops out at 60 mph.

It has been nice here in Calgary - +5 to +12 C and three riders were killed in the last two weeks. I suspect either ice patches or pea gravel. I am off the road for the duration. I know I bragged about riding every month last year but there is no prize so what the H***.
Time is short!
