A friend of mine told me a story about an over-loading event he witnessed: it seems a fellow purchased three full pallets of cement, and upon seeing the customer's towing setup, a small pickup with a single axle trailer, the forklift operator refused to load the trailer, as each pallet weighed over 3000 pounds. The customer was irate, and eventually a manager was called in, who finally agreed that they would load the pallets if he would sign a waiver. Waiver signed, the loading proceeded. The truck and trailer sagged under the first pallet, and when the second pallet was loaded, both trailer tires popped, and when the trailer dropped, it pulled the bumper off the truck with it.
