Custom Bike Building Basics by Woolie

Cycle World just released a short piece and video about Deus builder Michael "Woolie" Woolaway.  One of the takeaways from his approach to bike building is to start with the purpose of the bike, which then dictates the form -- and not the other way.  Although Woolie builds on a very high level, I think it's valuable advice in light of many people who are primarily driven by aesthetic considerations.  Hint: Woolie doesn't build lowered brat style bikes with limited clearance to Firestone tires.  ;)

His argument was there were too many (stock flake matador red 350F's) in his town  ::)
I doubt there was another, of any year in any color, as nice as the stock one he started with, and he killed it  >:(

definitely not,  but there are plenty of café looking bikes with paint stripped tanks.   

shame, the before looks so good.
