350F conrod bolts
« on: June 28, 2016, 07:12:24 PM »
Hi guys

I read or heard somewhere that it was advised to replace the conrod bolts during a 350F complete engine rebuild, does anyone have a view on this or can I reuse the ones I have. I'm ready to bolt the halves together but would really appreciate clarification on this one.
Part no. 13213-333-003 ....8of
Cheers
Chris

Conrod bolts are typically high tensile strength steel and are torqued to a preload stress for a certain amount of stretch, but that should be in the elastic range and not cause permanent stretch. For a high performance engine rebuild they are often replaced.
he 350 is a relatively low stress engine though - and not a usual candidate for hotrodding... I've seen several with the bearings replaced, bolts re-used, and not heard of any failures.
