If you want to get rid of your 16'' let me know. I will gladly take it off your hands for ya  ;D
That would solve this whole issue...

I allready have a "donor" hub to use. But if I can find a wheel in decen shape, allready laced, I would rather do that. The one I threw away was just plain scarry...

The rim has some rust pits, not too bad for being 30ysr old.. I just have not found a better looking OEM wheel asm yet. Now I do have the rim and spokes that we took off when Pop and I laced up the HD rim.

I need to make up my mind soon before the weather is here. I am getting a little nervous test riding with  these 30 yr old tires

Well, my spokes came in from Buchanans today, so I laced up my front wheel with an 18" stock Honda rim so I kin mount up a fatty white wall up in front, too. Only required one band-aid for the job, but I'm not going to do the final tightening and truing. That I will leave to the pro's, but at least I saved a few bucks doing the lacing job. Beer money is beer money.

I'll do it. If you wanna bring it to Texas. Your wheel would not be my first. It would be my third.
That means you would only have a little wobble.

You will never get the hang of it. If you don't do it. Just jump in.

Yeah, I do. The guy I bought it from said it was a Harley wheel, but I don't know how to prove the authenticity of that. However, it is definitely a 16 laced to a Honda hub and I ran it on a '71 for a year. I'm parting out that bike to fix up my new 78. The last time I looked at the wheel, it was in pretty good shape. I'll dig it out and send you pictures if you're interested. BTW, I'd also be interested in trading for cafe style stuff for a 78 750 or a 74 350F. Thanks.

Beachpeople- what was the part # for the 18" spokes and the honda hub? I'm looking to move my 1.85 x18" rear rim to the front, Ive got a 1.85 x19 up there now and am looking to drop the front a little without messing with the suspension...

May I assume you've checked to see that the hub and rim take the same number of spokes ?  Will Buchanan lace it up for you?  If you want to send it to NC, my boss can do it. He has a ton of experience with that stuff.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

I've relaced my wheels twice each....long story.  If you take your
time it is not hard.  Having two dial indicators that you can buy at
Sears is a practical necessity.

The Buchanan spokes are great, but the end that goes through the
hub is little bit thicker...at least the ones I got...so they had to be
forced a little to line up with the nipple holes.

I think I know a man who has exactly what your looking for. He used to build show winning Honda chops back in the day.( still has one) I wont be seeing him until monday though. If you totally stuck, how much would it cost to ship the parts to Florida? I've done wheel building for years, isnt my favorite job but I can do it to within a couple of thou (better than it needs to be) I do engines for fun.

Hey Cafe, sorry it took so long to get back to you. My DSL is kaput and I have to swap wires around to do dial-up...
I did the same thing with my wheel by swapping out a stock rear 18" rim to replace the 19" one, and I just odered the SS spokes from their website, and stated on the order form the kind of parts I was looking to lace together. I found that I had to drill out the rim holes slightly because the nipples were a very tight fit with no lee-way to achieve to the slightly steeper spoke angle needed. The angle on the nipples in the undrilled hole was just enough off that it just wasn't working. The stock nipples had plenty of movement in the rim (I checked), so I figured that it wasn't a problem to drill them slightly more open for the new nips. I haven't snugged down the spokes in their nipples yet, and it looks like I might have to grind some spokes down, but the paperwork with the spokes from Buchanans indicated that I might have to do that.It was a tough job muscling those spokes into place!

Maybe we should have a contest similar to the one that sees who can solve
a Rubic's Cube the quickest.  Ours would be...see who can lace a wheel the
quickest.  Guiness book maybe?   ;D

I suggest any local shop that sells and works on dirt bikes. I have mine trued every few years, and it's fairly common for off-road riders to need repair due to hitting rocks, etc. Give them a call...

Thanks beachpeople, Im in no hurry here, sounds like the usual thing with aftermarket parts requiring a little bit of fitting but at least Im not the only one trying to get something like that to work.

Anyone got any info on the 16'' rear wheel like what lacing pattern, length of spokes what fornt wheel was used when replacing a rear 18'' with a 16'' will the angle be too agressive if using 11.5'' shocks and so on ? or is this gonna be a huge experiment for me? :D
