Hello from Manchester, Pa
« on: June 30, 2016, 05:12:23 AM »
Hi everyone. My name is Brent. (Friends call me Dougie). Feel free to use either. So, I'm late to the motorcycle game as I'm 31 and just purchased my first bike a little over a month ago. She's a 76' cb550. I've yet to have her on the road but she does run. (just taking care of a few small things before I taker her out). I realize this may not be the "practical" first bike but I know what I wanted and I got it. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Later!

It's a great first bike. Small, nimble and a blast to ride. In good condition, it will handle nearly everything you throw at it. Post up a picture when you can.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

Here's a pic the day I brought her home. She's currently flat black as the super faded brown just had to go. Additionally I would like to get more upright bars in the near future as well.

Exactly right.  550s are great bikes and not so big/powerful/heavy that they scare the bejeezus outta ya.  Welcome.
