'70 CB 750K Front Fork Question
« on: July 07, 2016, 11:02:47 AM »
I'm wondering what holds the chrome trim ring in place (# 20 in attached diagram) on the front forks of a 1970 CB 750? This ring is located just below the headlamp bracket. Parts diagram seems to show rubber donut (part #22 in diagram) just above, but I believe that goes inside the lower part of the headlamp bracket to provide a cushion for the bracket against the lower tripple tree. Thanks in advance!

It's tight fit on gaitor rubber, nothing else holding it. The same ring is used on later models also.

Yes   ^^^^^^^^^^^^

Lift the chrome ring as high on the headlight bracket as you can. Then slide the rubber fork boot up onto the headlight bracket and slide the chrome ring down over the top of the rubber boot.
Done!

The top of the rubber has a groove that will snap in on the headlight ear, then the trim ring drops down a fits on end of rubber

Just keep in mind that gaitor rubber has a top and bottom. The drain holes in the gator should face down if you replace it.
