Herc,

Could be the bulb in the instrument panel or the neutral switch inside the clutch cover.

Good luck,

Check the neutral switch for a 750 under the engine on the left side by the shifter cover. Ground the lead, if the indicator lights, the switch is bad. If it dont light, check the bulb. If it still dont light, check the connector in the headlight shell or the engine harness connector.

Contact cleaner I have a can , I will look there as well. Thanks Wykydtron
Good call, I bet its the neutral position switch.  Looks like a 750 in your avatar, but my 550 had this issue so I pulled the left engine cover and the little cam was covered with crud from the front sprocket throwing chain lube and dirt at it over time.  A healthy shot of electrical contact cleaner fixed it right up.

Lets assume its a CB 750 you have, yes they do leak not only through the O ring but through the switch itself.
Place the bike on a center stand then drain sump oil-MUST.  Then undo 10mm retaing bolt and clamp & remove the electrical lead from the tiny screw
Prise out the switch should not be too hard with a good flat tiped screw driver.
Wash switch in carby cleaner and then with a good pair of very sharp snip nosed pliers remove the bottom of th switch with the electrical lead attaches by rotating the bottom with the sharp pliers.
Once again clean the innards.
Get the most suitable loctite goo and place on threaded portion and insert and tighten Test again should go ok there is nothing to go wrong inside!!
Insert the switch into the sump the right way a sit need the flat section adjacent to the retaing clamp.make sure that the 18x3mm 'O' ring is soft or replace it .
Replace engine oil after starting the engine TEST again should not leak either.
