CB750K3 Rear Wheel Bearing Retainer?
« on: July 07, 2016, 02:59:54 PM »
I rebuilt my front wheel, new bearings and all. Front retainer came off nice and easy, rear one had to be beaten out and broke. Trying to save the hub, even though the threads look beaten up. Anyway, I ordered a new retainer and final drive dampers from cmsnl and it arrived today and I find it is not the right retainer. I checked the order and everything and it seems this is the correct part. So I'm not sure if maybe this isn't the original wheel, or if where the old one threaded into is aftermarket. This has definitely been done before, I can tell someone else was in here long ago. Any help is appreciated

Jon, looks like you have the bearing retainer for the sprocket carrier, item 4 in  parts sketch and you are needing item 5,  41231300020

I think Kevin D has it right. I just went through something similar on my 750 K3. Even if you didn't think you needed a new sprocket carrier bearing retainer (the wrong part your ordered), it's probably good that you have a fresh one. I think those threads can get damaged fairly easily. Now is the best time to put a fresh one in. You still need a part, but not it's not a bad thing that you have the one you got.
