Hello from Brisbane Australia (strewth now there's 2 of us)
« on: January 13, 2007, 05:25:25 PM »
Hello
I have enjoyed many hours of pursuing various threads on this site. I have four bikes, two K2’s, 71 Kawasaki Mach 111, and a Yamaha R5. Only one of them, a K2, is in any decent condition, and I bought it as a virtually completed rebuild. At a recent swap meet I sold my lovely 69 Triumph Bonneville and spotted this beautiful, though not original, K2 that I bought after several weeks of negotiation. PO did a nice job on it cosmetically, though some mechanical issues. I have sorted out some minor electrical problems, am generally trying to get it fully sorted e.g. front brake and some motor issues.

My other K2 had been a police bike. I have had it for twenty years or so. It is in pretty sad condition. The Mach 111 and Yamaha are old relics picked up over the years and in generally sad condition. Notice a common theme here?

Over time I have come to the realisation that I am not a builder, more a fiddler around the edges, e.g. playing around with electrical issues or general external stuff, I’ve never had the nerve to pull a motor apart. Which begs the question, why did I buy another bike that needs motor work? I guess I see something I fall in love with and I want it regardless.  However I continue to live in hope, so it was a real pleasure to come across this site with so much incredible info. I love it. I will try to post a picture.

Looking forward to getting involved in time with posts, but I have rambled on more than enough so bye for now

Man I like the red.

Had the pleasure of visiting brisbane in august ...nice to know that there is a 750 roaming the streets.

G'Day mate, and welcome! I lived in Brissie for 2 years, great motorcycle town with 24/7 riding weather, brilliant! I like the F2/K7 carbs on your K2, those accellerator pumps are a good idea, aren't they? If I can't get some new K&N's for my Keihin CR29's soon, I might fit a set! Take it easy mate, Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Welcome, 2timeer!  She's a beaut.  I think there's a fair chance you could "fiddle" her into good mechanical condition. :)

Hi 2timer
Another Brisbanite here. That is a beautiful looking bike.
With a collection like that, do you belong to the local VJMC? We meet on 2nd Tuesday each month at Springwood.

The VJMC meetings (more social than business and anyone welcome) are held at Ilana's Rock and Roll Cafe on Chatswood Road, Springwood (just off Exit 23 of the M1, opposite the BMW showroom). The next meeting will be 13 Feb. One of our other members has a K7 and as does my eldest son. We have just finished fixing it up after it was "written off" by a $#*@# woman in a Falcon. Thankfully his injuries were only minor.
