I had my bike tuned up today by Carnivorous Chicken .... Chis.  He did a great job and now the engine is working on all 4 cylinders, not just 2.  He found a short in the insulated yellow and blue wire harness coming from the ignition points .... to under the engine and then up to the connectors heading to the coil.  He was able to isolate the problem to rule out the points and condenser and coil. So,  cylinders 2 and 3 won't fire till I replace that yellow wire .... which is bundled together with the blue wire and wrapped in heat insulation for protection. We ran a temporary wire from the right set of points to the connector by the battery .... and problem solved for now.

Does someone in the group have a known good yellow/blue wire set to offer or sell? My bike is a 1975 CB550K model. I'm grounded till I get one. If none of these wires are available from this group .... I would really like alternative suggestions on where to obtain!

Chris synced my carbs, adjusted valves, adjusted points, strobe timed, adjusted air screws, trouble shot my wire short, got the headlight and tail lights working and a few odds and ends to get just right. The engine finally sounded strong and with brisk acceleration. Aftermarket pipes were a little too throaty but were singing away on the upper rpms. Can't wait to ride it now ..... but HAVE to get the shorted wire problem resolved first!

Just make new ones. There's nothing unique about them. you can buy bullet connectors here http://www.vintageconnections.com and purchase some BLUE and YELLOW wire of the proper gauge. Grab some heat shrink, and the sleeving of your choice, done!

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

I'm sure there would be more, but here's 2 going pretty cheap.

Thanks Frosty,   the 2nd Ebay link item looks good.  The 1st one is junk with a broken wire. Since I had the points on my bike cleaned and adjusted ..... all I want is the wire set but having a spare set of breaker points and condensers for the future isn't a bad deal. Looks like Ebay salvage yards will save the day.
