Hello from Belgium
« on: July 11, 2016, 02:07:53 AM »
Good morning all,

After long years of dreaming of an old motorcycle I actually can work on by myself, I recently bought a '75 cb750f . I want to make a cafe racer out of it, and am focussing by now to improve the handling and reliability. High power output is not high priotity.

The bike I bought was already dismantled, so you can guess some (read "a lot") pieces were missing. By now I have received/ordered allmost all parts I was missing for the frame, including what I already wanted to replace. By now I have following things to change:

- New alu 5 gallon manx tank and alu seat ( yes, I know its not the original cb tank, but it was destroyed and I love the look of them)
- tapered steering ball bearings
- swingarm needle bearing
- New steel braided brake hoses
- stainless steel brake pistons
- every rubber and sealing will be replaced
- New progressive front springs and new rear shock (hagon)
- New wheel rims and spokes, hubs repolished
- every ball bearing replacement
- all bolt and nuts to be replaced
- making new electrical wiring

I'm now about to begin the engine, and this is why I absolutely love this forum. I was a little affaid of doing it wrong and destroying it but already learned a lot here, and am thinking of doing it myself, exepted from the valves and cylinders. Getting more self assured by reading  the tech forums and tips here.

Kind regards,
Davy.

Welcome. I'm sure you will enjoy building your first bike and have no problems turning that pile of parts into your dream  :D

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis
