Washers for shock mounting
« on: July 14, 2016, 04:41:50 PM »
Am I right that washers (spacers) are needed in mounting the shock to the swingarm? It sure looks like it. How about under the acorn nut at the top of the shock?

What bike what year?
The lower bolts don't usually have washers.
The top acorn nuts use a large flat washer.

Are those after market shocks?

You should have a metal bushing inside the rubber or a stepped bolt (situation/configuration dependent). You don't want to squeeze and distort the fork or the rubber plus you don't want slop. Skin kat as you see fit.

The shocks are reproductions from 4 into 1.

Ok, I think a "71 K1" can be a '71 CB500 or a '71 cb750.
Regardless, I measured the lower mount/shock opening on a "stock" '73 CB500, '76 CB550 & '76 CB750. All were 18mm width, exact slip fit and no spacer.

copied from 4into1 website on their CB750 shock:

Dimensions:
Length: 335mm (13.2") measured from center of mounting points.
Diameter of springs = 2.3"
Overall Length = 14 1/2"
Inner diameter of upper rubber bushing = 15mm (.6")
Distance between clevis holes: 22mm
Chrome Cover: Length 4"
Chrome Cover: OD = 2.5"

Fits Honda:
CB750K - 1969-1978
CB750F - 1975-1978
