Great Bikes of the Seventies
« on: July 16, 2016, 09:46:04 AM »
Ran across this website over on the Triples forum, thought it was pretty good and wanted to share.

Of course the CB750 is on there as well as the CB500 [I would have voted for the CB550 instead]

I was happy to see a couple of my other bikes on there, Kaw H1, H2 and the Yammie RD350 [all three are two strokes] and also the big beast Kaw Z1!

There are a couple more I'd like to have...

That's a cracking site Stev-o

Don't know if this has been posted before but it's quite a good watch.

That's a cool site Steve. It has the different years of the bikes listed so you can see some of the changes that were made.

I enjoy reading the period road tests which this link has plenty of. Those old vintage road tests were much more comprehensive than what they do nowadays in the moto rags.

Looks like they left off the bowling ball special. How could they?

The AMF Harley bikes, Eric.

The most impressive CB450 is not on there either, how could they miss that?

Ahh - yes Steve the infamous AMF period how could I forget, not enough coffee yet the morning.  Black Bomber should be there maybe though. Guy sold one recently for 6 grand at the Gilmore bike show this summer and said he could have sold at least 3 more. Pretty impressive  :D

It actually was an impressive bike, especially the torsion bar valves and double overhead cams-Honda was always at the forefront of technology

It took me a second to understand the reference, AMF of course, but now that I've seen a few - I kind of like the AMF scramblers that they produced.  They are just so off-the-wall for Harley.

When I was a wee young lad I kind of lusted after a Baja 100 I had seen at the dealership, ended up being an exclusive Suzuki guy for many years though till 1981 and my first four stroke, a Honda 750 1976 K model..
