what is this part,where does it mount.1980 650

trying to reconnect everything.this exits on the right side,more kind of around the battery box

Looks like the ignition module (CDI). There should be two of them mounted under the seat, to the rear of the battery.

Correct.  If they crap out on you, you can get replacements at Rick's.

thanks.I have 4 of them,hopefully 2 of them will work.if not 124 each means its ebay part sell time.I only have 250 in the bike,not going to spend another 250 for 2 small parts.I have the itch for a 750 anyway.Only problem is I can only find dohc.Better than nothing I guess.I hate shim and bucket valve adjustment.

 Cdi boxes.... yes 2 of them.... isolated mounting.....check the backsides, not the metallic side, wires are encased in a plastic like substance...should be smooth, if it looks a little melted...ain't no good, can't be fixed.
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.
