Help with indicators
« on: July 18, 2016, 03:09:46 AM »
Hi there!

Very new to owning my 72 CB500k and this forum! Apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I'm trying to fit some indicators to the bike so I purchased these:

https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/CB500K1-FOUR-1972/part_217312/

and have wired them up to the bike (after having to extend the wires) but still can't get them to show any signs of life.  The panel bulb for the turn signal only lights up when the switch is indicating right (nothing happens switched to the left) and stays on solidly rather than blinking, but the actual lights themselves on the bike do nothing at all.

So far I've only wired the rear ones, I didn't want to go ahead with the whole thing and then still nothing work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have no idea what I'm doing  ;)

How are you grounding them? Are you mounting the rear signals using the brackets in the picture or the grab rail or frame mount on the bike? Are the replacement signals only single wire? Post a little more info and pics if you can. If the replacement signals are only single wire, you have to ground them in the rear. You have to ground them up front in the headlight bucket as well, but that is usually a little more straight forward. Pics will help determine what you may need to do.
