Best 4 into 1 for magical results and low price.
« on: July 19, 2016, 08:48:40 AM »
I want to get some new chrome and am wondering if anybody has any suggestions in regard to a 4 into 1 exhaust for my 750k8? I look at the various designs and makes, and find little difference but big differences in price. Thoughts?

What am I doing and why am I doing it? Those are excellent questions.

Best bang for the buck. I don't think you'll find any true performance stats or comparisons.

For the price you cant beat what youre getting. I have not handled a Mac or Carpy, but from everything Ive read I made the right choice getting Delkevic. Its stainless and fits and sounds awesome. I got mine just a hair over 300 shipped off fleabay.

I just got a CycleX 4-into-1 Sidewinder 1500 miles ago and I think the quality, fit, finish, and especially the sound! are all awesome. Good tech support too. I am told by some of the experts here that Sidewinders will scrape on turn s and I don't doubt that they are right,  but I think the latest version of these is pretty high and tight - I can't tell if some guys really lay theirs down on turns and I am a big chicken, but I can't ever see scraping these. Anyways even if you did not get Sidewinders , I rate them highly in all respects and they have a lot of versions.

The Cycle X pipes do look nice, never owned one so I can't really comment. However, The Delkevic system is awesome for the price. NIce polished stainless steel, comes with everything (including a center stand stop bracket), mounting springs, etc. I couldn't be happier with their customer service too. Jerry turned me on to them a while back and I scooped one up right away.

Just make sure you get the correct version for your exhaust flange/mounting point (early or later style head) Also there are two different mufflers to choose from both baffled. One is the same as Dino put on his hack-a-week special and the other kind of looks like a yoshi style pipe. I haven't mounted mine yet but I got a sound clip from a member (actually may have been Pan1cReaper) and holy crap this thing sounds sick!!!

I used to put Kerkers on everything but unless you can find a good deal on used they are very pricey. Supertrapp bought them out years ago and really put the cost through the ceiling. I have no experience with the Delkevic but when I first saw it advertised I thought it was a decent looking pipe and for sure affordable. I bought a brand new Kerker for my old Z bike back in 1988 and it was a tad over $300 at the time. I know they are at least $800 these days.

To replace my ageing pipes I was thinking about doing the Delkevic header and a stainless reverse cone on the end. What is that pipe place you guys like to get it from? The name eludes me.

Sounds like a good plan. Which reverse cone form Cone Engineering are you going to use? Are there any problems in mounting/supporting the muffler on the CB 750 K1?

Dunno yet. I would have to mount the pipes and measure it to see what would work. I would imagine the 18" quiet core should work with those headers. Anyone else try this combination of headers and mufflers before?

I just got done with 120 mile ride around Stateliness lake and am very pleased with the Delkevic header and conengineering 12" stainless shorty.  There was a noticeable power boost.  I has some sound noise, but was not ear splitting.

I rode a cb550 with the full Delkevic header and muffler and that was a great sound too.

For $329 you won't find a better bargain.  On flaking chrome to worry about since it is all stainless.

I would suggest a bracket (available from Cone) welded to the muffler if you go with the 18". It is longer and heavier than the 12".

So if I went with the 18" quiet core I would want the 2.5" ID one?

I admit I only have experience with the Carpy exhaust, but I am damn pleased.

I wrote a longer post about it here;

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,157587.msg1818350.html#msg1818350

Excellent quality, follows the bike perfectly and sounds a m a z i n g. Of course, all open pipes should sound great, but this truly does sound awesome.

It's well worth every penny, and no matter which exhaust I was given for free, I would never change it.

I'd find out what size the collector pipe is on the Delkevic, and then get the appropriately sized Cone. Depends on whether you measure ID or OD. Both info's should be available from the manufacturers.

They are all 2.5"? Kerker had different sized collectors.
