Ignition Switch problem
« on: July 10, 2016, 03:10:17 PM »
OK... I just purchased a 1973 CB750 that had the Starter Button missing.  The bike has not run in many years.

I replaced the right hand set of switches and think that I have all the correct color-coded wires correctly connected.  However, whenever I turn the ignition key the starter motor runs... and does not stop once the engine starts.

By the way... it was really nice to see that the engine starts.  It does this with only one wire (yellow/red) connected from the right hand switch.

I guess it should be noted that the right hand switch is from a 1978 CB550F....does that make a difference?

So, does anyone know what I have may done wrong?

'Thanks'... any advice would be much appreciated.

You need the correct RH control for your year. The 550 is wired diferently. I'm not completely positive off hand as I do not have the diagram in front of me.

Yeah.... I figured it out.  The green and yellow wire just needed to be switched.... it is clearly indicated on the cb550 wiring diagram vs the cb750.

'Thanks' for the reply!
