reverse cabin fever
« on: July 23, 2016, 04:29:41 PM »
Hi, I was reading through a thread that I linked into and figured I'd add myself to the mix...

I have a 74 750 in Boss Maroon that was purchased from a friend of mine in NM.  Sort of a long funny story, but he had purchased it from the original owner and it sat in a basement for the last 4-5 years at one of his friends places...  he is a Chopper Jockey and picked it up originally to pull apart and put the engine in a long bike chassis. He, as I do, have many different irons in the fire so it really never got off the ground and sat some more..  We were talking one day a few years back and he mentioned it and i figured i'd throw it out that if he didn't end up pulling it apart I would be interested in it.  So it came up that he was going to be near the bike and he took a better look at it and decided to trade it to me for some work on a 48 chevy project he has as it was a little to complete and nicer than he remembered to blow it to the four corners of the earth....

So now i have been collecting missing parts and tidbits that I want to upgrade before i dig into it...   I already found a front fender, a seat pan, some repop side covers ( i really want to find a set of weathered boss maroon covers), A super deal on Carpy's 4-1 ( I wanted a Cycle-X sidewinder, but why pass up a good deal) and some other little things...

Still need a few more, like a set of CB350 bars, a tank latch and some small case savers and seat latch....

Carbs need a rebuild and it needs all the external seals replaces...   rebuild the brakes and forks..  replace the tires, etc....

It won't be a museum piece but it being a 17k mile bike that got put away last in 99, I want to keep it as original as possible (with some period weathered add on parts)..   it's neat in that it still has the line paint daubs on the fasteners and brake parts intact...

I will be scouring the ads to see if anything i need is available...  I buy on ebay but I usually like to buy/trade with like minded people to keep the whole thing moving forward for everyone....

I also have a collection of bikes / projects...   everything from a G100 Kawaski, T350 twin, some Ironheads, a 99 Road King, A Bultaco Matador, Some harley and Triumph chopper projects,  a Ducati 900 Super Sport and a VF700F...  Not to mention my Cars and trucks... And a house that needs work, and a Shop that I am trying to start from the ground up......

Just from a short look around it seems like most here are like minded....

Thanks Jay...
