Thanksgiving Is This Thursday
« on: November 18, 2006, 07:56:10 PM »

Thanksgiving is this Thursday and so what are you SERIOUSLY Thankfull for?

I'm thankfull for: My Wife of 35yrs, my Daughter of 28yrs, my Dad of 81yrs, my friends that I've
made at SOHC4, the country that I live in (to be able to have the freedoms
that we have and just the fact that I wake up every day and do the things I
do with out being oppressed (the fact that we don't live under a                                                  dictatorship). Sometimes I think we don't realize just how well off we really
are. After I spent 2yrs in Japan and some of that in Korea, I was mighty glad
to be back in the U.S.! Just about 16yrs ago, I went to Honduras with a team
of Civil Service Mechanics and another Equipment Inspector (I was also an
Equipment Inspector) to get some military equipment ready to come back to
the U. S. after an Army Engineer unit had done some work down there and
had to be able to pass an inspection before being loaded on a ship to bring
them back to the states. Honduras was another place that made me better
appreciate what we have here. Don't get me wrong, there are some very
nice folks in the other countries. It's just not the same. When we were in
Honduras, there were a few times that we were under strict guard because
of rumors of possible attacks and I don't have to tell you I was nervous. We
may not like the way some things are done or whatever but, overall, we don't
have it that bad. It could be alot worse. Take care and let's hear your
thoughts. By the way, Have a Good Thanksgiving! :) ;)
                                                                             Later on, Bill

YES!!  My lovely, lovely turkey!  I look forward to eating myself into a coma every year!
I give much thanks for the fact that, even considering all of our political maladies, we live in a country where we can actually afford to have special meals.  Also thanks for my family and friends.  Thanks for all of our military, who do their jobs well.  Thanks for a forum such as this, where I've not only learned alot about my K6, but also (I think)made some new friends and learned alot about life in general.  Most thanks of all is the thanks I give every day for my children.

Grateful to G-d that there's a lot more decent people out there than we usually realize.
Grateful that that's also true about communities and societies.
Grateful that I've always lived in and fought for those better, decent societies.  I have friends who grew up in the Soviet Union and in Arab countries.  We see the flaws of the Western societies, but forget their tremendous blessings and how much overall good they contribute to others.

Grateful for my wife, and the rest of my family.  Grateful that they are all safe, well, and doing good for others.  Especially grateful that the hitchhiking hippie daughter is safe, well and spending Thanksgiving with her sister and mother.

Grateful to have almost always worked jobs where I can make a contribution, and take some satisfaction in what I do.  On call today, and don't regret a moment of it.  Like many, I appreciate the privilege of being able to serve and give something back on days like this.

Grateful that forums like this show how total strangers will take interest in, and help each other for no particular reason; proving the inherent goodness of Man once again.
