Replacement gauges
« on: July 24, 2016, 07:58:12 AM »
If I wanted to find an aftermarket gauge - where would I look?

I'm probably being naïve, but if I wanted to remove the (fuel or tach or speedo) gauge from the instrument cluster on my Nighthawk and swap it out with an aftermarket - where on earth would you get something like that?

Tried the obvious places already - Amazon (worthless), e-bay (equally worthless), motorcycle superstore (not something they carry at all).

Is this a case of "sorry it doesn't work that way - all gauges are unique to the bike model"

I pulled the gauges off an older Nighthawk and I did notice that the mounting screws were in a different location

Try the Trail Tech folks up in Colorado if I remember correctly.  They make a bunch of different gauge things for the aftermarket ATV four wheeler crowd.

I have been using their TTO cylinder head temperature gauge for a few years now. Very happy with it.  Works great.

They have a huge selection of different gauges, electronic and GPS. Multifunction and differing sizes and styles.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

They certainly do.

I had no idea they were so expensive though.  Oof.  Definitely doing my research.

Still, nice gauges though.
