When I bought my CB400F it ran rough and it was pretty obvious the carbs needed cleaning. That said, I took the carbs apart and cleaned everything real well. I replaced the main jets and the gaskets and put everything back together.
After getting the carbs back on (which is a real PITA as I'm sure you know), I turned the gas back on and BAM, gas starts pouring out from all four bowls around seal/gaskets at a very fast rate there was no gas draining from the overflow tubes). At first I thought it was the actual floats, which I had to adjust, but given the overflow drain sits a little higher than the seals, I'm thinking it may be the replacement gaskets, which I got from 4 into 1 (I could be totally wrong). When I put the bowls back on I noticed they came a mm or 2 from touching the carbs, but eventually they came together when I screwed everything down - is that normal?
That being said, I couldn't resist filling the bowls with gas, turning off the gas, and giving her a test. After a few kicks, she fired right up and sounded MUCH better than before. Now if I can only figure out this gas issue that would be great.
Any feedback/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
