Ha ha, over here "clubbers" refers to people who frequent nightclubs Frank, usually gay ones, and they ride entirely different "mounts", not that there's anything wrong with that........ ;D

Yep, we've got an interesting situation going on here in Oz Frank, the "Vietnam Veterans" club was the only non-1% club allowed by the outlaw clubs to wear a patch, because the other outlaw clubs decided that Vietnam vets are old men and pose no risk to them.

Problem is now we've got lots of young vets fresh from conflicts in Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan who have changed it to the "Veterans MC" and ride under those colours. These guys are young, fit and battle hardened, and now the other outlaw clubs are treading lightly around them...... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Looking down your nose at Jap bikes isn't just confined to some Harley people...
Bikes basically break down into 3 groups - American, Japanese, and European.
Harley guys appreciate the machinery, if not the brand, of a vintage Japanese bike. I've gotten compliments and comments on my '78 750 from HD guys of all ages. The biggest snobs I've found are BMW purists - me and my buddy were actually discouraged by a member of a local group from attending or trying become members as soon as he found out we didn't ride BMW/euro bikes.

My philosophy is this:
I ride a bike that rolled out of the factory in 1978.
It's had enough changes made to it that it's not stock.
I was born here in Pa in 1967.
I am at least the third owner.
I am an American.
I buy my used parts from other Americans.
When I buy new, I buy US made  when at all possible.
I work on my own bike, or take it to a local neighborhood shop.
Therefore, take off the badges, and my bike is "American" as any other.

I don't understand why you guys get so complicated about it.  Clubs, 1%'ers, gangs, whatever.  I've never seen the reason behind any of it - certainly not the snubbing, insults, even the murdering of each other.  If I'm not mistaken there's a sport bike gang in New York just as bad as any outlaw biker gang.

I don't see myself ever joining a gang - I'm too busy just living my life.  Who gives a flying F about this stuff anyway?

I don't particularly like Harley Davidson motorcycles, but I reserve the right to change my opinion.  That doesn't mean I'm going to beat some guy up because he's wearing branded gear or tarnish his/her good name because they prefer Yamis instead of Kawis.  I know plenty of BMW riders who could use a serious attitude adjustment.

I will say this, when my Tiger 1050 boiled over on the interstate - 3 separate times riders stopped to help (I declined each time since there was a tow truck coming), all were riding Harleys.  Several other riders passed by without even glancing - all were adventure bikes (like the kind I ride).  I may not like their bikes, but they aren't all ass-hats.  Because of what they did - I absolutely will pull over when I see a rider off to the side of road broken down.

My local beemer brigade doesn't seem to mind.

That's a nice pair of R60's mate, I had one back in the 1970's, my brother bought it off an oil rig worker who won it in a card game, it had a chrome plated frame which contrasted really nice with the black, and would do 100 mph. My brother gave it to me, but when I joined the army my dad told him to get rid of it so he sold it, and I've never seen it again. I wouldn't mind another one, with a hotted up R100 engine in it, or better still, a modern oil/air cooled R1100 engine in it, although the purists might not like it too much............ ;D`

Yeah mate, I love BMW's too, I've got a 1989 K100RS (4 cylinders) and 1995 R1100GS. Great bikes, and while I have come across the odd BMW rider who doesn't wave, most of the BMW guys I've met over the years have been great. Cheers, Terry. ;D

The Indian it says was built off some kind of a Honda 79cc clone engine.

Bikes were built for the show. You could hear a starter in a couple scenes, before they had electric starters...

The group I mentioned is born out of the local "BMW, Ducati, Triumph" dealership in the heart of a major college town, so that could be part of the culture and attitude.
