I installed the front tire myself but the tube wouldn't hold air, I must have pinched it during the installation.  Rather than fighting it, I took the wheels to the local honda dealer and let them mount and balance the tires.  painted the wheels because they were pretty rough.  installed the new brake pads and shoes.  Surprisingly everything works well, not bad for a bike newb.

I have a really nice helmet that cuts down the sound from the pipes.  I'll admit it is quite loud, but tolerable.   I didn't want to destroy my HM341's so I took them off and wrapped them for storage.


Yesterday I met up with Larry, he walked me through a valve adjustment and carb sync on my bike.  Great to learn from someone who has years of experience and some great knowledge.  Thanks again Larry, you're the man!

Still riding and enjoying this bike, oil leaks, rust and all!  I haven't done much to it since the last mods I posted. 
I have to finish the second side cover mod.  Pull dents on the replacement tank, and braze a small hole I discovered.  I have a painter lined up to spray the parts, custom color going on.  Going to have the headlight bucket and fork ears sprayed as well, proper for a ,71.

Picked up an 09 CB750 recently that I'm working on, and still wrenching on preludes.  Hope to have the cbr on the road by spring and a supercharger installed on my Lude.  If time permits, maybe I'll have freshly painted parts on the CB in 2016

Yup. 


Luckily I had my leatherman multi tool, I removed the fender/tail light/plate/ turns (or what was left of them)
I was able to ride the bike, the cop followed me to my shop to be safe.

How she sits.


My buddy Larry has offered up some spare parts, I'll use those for inspection purposes.  I'm finally going to install the tail light assembly previously posted in this thread

I'm a big fan of the seat style you opted for. Looks comfy.

*On a side note... I'm kind of like you: Newish to bikes, not new to forums. My previous addiction were AE86 Corollas. Technically it's still my addiction as it is sitting next to my CB750 and my 450 Nighthawk.*

It appears that the damage was focused on your fender and taillight.  I assume that the car also struck your rear wheel.  Did the frame, swingarm or wheel suffer any damage from being pushed/plowed into?

Hit the rear wheel pretty hard.  Not sure sure what is damaged, I'll likely take the bike to a shop to be evaluated for insurance purposes.  If this bike is totaled I'm gonna be pretty damn mad.

It is incredibly easy to total a motorcycle, especially if it is a vintage bike not on stated value but just blue book.

If totaled, you should buy it back from the insurance company, purchase a clean titled frame and transplant all of your parts to the new frame.

Thanks for the info.  Those are parts I didn't replace during my refresh of the bike.  I will push for a new rear wheel, tire swing arm, pivot bolt, bushings, fender, amid tail light.  They will want to total it, but I'll take what they give me and save the bike.

Good luck with your, hopefully it's not damaged to bad to affect the frame. I will be watching this project as I have same vision for my 73 that I will be working on, I was also thinking of black wheels...
