CB550 and Tarozzi rearsets
« on: August 11, 2016, 06:01:12 AM »
Hoping someone may be able to help with sorting out the brake side of the Tarozzi rearsets on my 75 CB550. I've got the universal set and mounting brackets from Cognito. As you can see on the photo (0783), the rearset brake arm fouls the linkage. I think if I shortened the tube that holds the splined brake actuator it may work. Would also have to shorten the actuator the same amount. If anyone has the CB550 specific kit from Tarozzi I would be keen to know how long the shaft on the splined actuator is that comes with it. If the kit piece isn't shorter I don't really know how it would work.

If anyone has done the above, or some other fix I would appreciate any tips. As a last resort I will put the pegs and levers through the pillion mounts.

Thanks

Is it possible to use the other side's foot lever (assuming they're a mirrored pair) so you could run the linkage BELOW the spline?  Using a pulling rear rotation rather than a pushing forward rotation?

Or would that leave you SOL for the shifter side?

It looks like you're mounting them on an F bike with the extended post for the brake lever. I think that's your problem. I have Tarozzi rear sets but I used their mounting brackets, so it's not an exact comparison.

Running below won't work unfortunately as the brake arm hits the splined actuator.

The 'K' splined actuator is much shorter than the 'F' version. I reckon if I swap them over and trim the tube back by the same amount it will work.
