First "Proper" Photo
« on: November 25, 2006, 08:39:18 AM »
Spent all day stripping the carbs down today and then rebuilding and balancing them. Before I knew it, it was starting to go dark again so I thought I'd grab a quick photo of the old girl.

Very, Very nice.

Which exhaust do you have on there?  Mine has crap pipes so I'm looking to replace them soon.

Hi Dave,
They're the original Honda pipes all the way through. The bike's done 31,000 miles so they're obviously replacements but luckliy, the guy who changed them decided to fork out on Honda stuff.  Motad 4-into-1 costs about £230 and they're nowhere near as well chromed.

Very nice indeed.

My basket case has OEM pipes cut-off at where the mufflers used t/b and a Mac unit I have mounted on the bike to get me going. Honda sourced pipes are 10 times the quality of funky Mac thingy. I'm looking to go with 4-2 slip-ons when the time, part and money get right.

Thanks guys! Here's another pic and the link below it will reveal a 1600x1200 image for close detail. The bike's totally original. (Whoops - apart from the horn which I just couldn't live with, so I replaced it with a new one from my Honda CBF1000).

Really nice bike. Congrats!

Mike,
I'm with you on the turn signals front and back but not the fender. Mine did not/does not have the front support like the K's had.

CBen,
Don't EVEN mention cafe for that pristine stock F. We gotta stick together.

That front fender looks like standard UK stock to me.  In fact, Den just sent me a photo of himself stood next to his brand new (1976) bike and it has the same front mudguard. The indicators too, look standard to me.

Here's Den's pic for comparison....

Jerry you're right about the fender (USA model)...I just checked 2 sources. As for the indicators...the F had half round backs front and rear. Mine has FJ1200 indicators now. ;)

That's a beauty Ben. Those bars seem quite high up. Did you put those on or were they standard fitting in Oz?

Having built lots of them out of the crate i can say the the UK one is Standard for the UK. First bike with the HUGE blinkers (and rear light) was the CBX, F2 and second model Wing. Your US "safety" people have a heluva lot of ugly mods to answer for
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!
