OK, this has been on a long hiatus. Here is an update. I wish I had more time and moto vation, but the bikes are looking good and I finally have one to ride even though it has a short and needs further work.

The bike has a very nice paintjob and the fender is mounted and fits well and looks great! The seat is not yet mounted but it will hinge forward. The clear flyscreen is from Fly N Cycle and I love it. Do you like it?

The exhaust is on order and the dealer tells me he's doing his best, although I first ordered it in September and since then I have been doing ALL the leg work. Where has customer service gone?

Bike looks killer man, real nice job. ;D
I am not a fan of the flyscreen (my opinion), but might look better painted red to match the rest of the
bodywerk (ala a new Thruxton ?)
Just an idea...

           Hey Kyle,
Great look you've got going there, with your 350! 8) ;) I dunno, I think the flyscreen gives it sort of a "Ducatish" look myself! I'd leave it as is and RIDE! ;)

                                                 Later on, Bill :) ;)

I get tired of all that wind hitting my chest. I think I'll keep it for now. I'll like it just as well on any bike and it's easy to remove.

Here's a pic of the tank

Looking good, CBGB!
Just happened to notice that the bike has risers that bolt on to the triple tree.
If it was mine (which it sadly isn´t...), I would ditch the risers and clubman bars an go for clip-ons instead.
Would give a nice, clean, low and compact front end  8)

Keep up the good work!

Cheers
Dan

No way man. Keep the risers, but mount them upside down, under the trees. This will lower them nicely and you won't have to pay a dime.

That project is coming along great. The paint came out perfect! Did you strip all the paint off before repainting it or did you just sand it smooth? I have a half stripped tank that needs powdercoating, so I'm wontering if there is a trick...

Your bike's a real beauty.

I love that flyscreen.  I'm considering one for my cb550.

What kind of front fender did you go with?  Does it have enough steel in it to provide the fork brace function?

Yes, your quite right. There are problems with the stock risers, like thier lack of rigidity since they are mounted with bushings. It was a matter of cost. This is a low budget bike. The clip ons are about $100, and the clubmans were less than $20

The paint was stripped. There were many layers of some really strange paint on this tank. I've been checking your site Chris.

The fender fits in there pretty tight. It seems rigid enough to me. I wish the fit were easier, but I think it looks just right.

        Hey Chris,

Great look on that bike! ;) 8) You are bringing it together so well, you have a right to be proud of it! :) Take care and I'll be talking to you soon.

CBGBs:

What is the trick for removing all the paint? I've tried aircraft stipper, which makes a gooey mess. I've wirewheeled the top, but it's under the tank that I'm afraid I cannot do. I'm considering buying a gallon of the stuff and letting the tank sit in a bath of it. What did you do?

Thanks for the comments on my bike. The frame is stripped and final welding done. Paint this weekend/next week.

Well done on your work.

--Thanks, Chris

I would take care to remove any rust under there and not worry too much about the paint on the underside. If its stuck there real good then leave it.

Oh, my Lord! Its been awhile since posting on this thread. My little girl is a big girl now, and I'm a photographer. I've got a bun in the oven, and I finally started the 350 last night. It fired right up! and then my daughter puked all over her room. This all happened at about 10:30 last night. I think it would have fired on the first kick if I had really tried. I first kicked it a few times with the ignition off to get the oil moving. Then I kicked it with ignition but didn't have the choke fully engaged. It gave a nice response as if it wanted to fire. Then with the choke on it took right off.... after almost 3 years since last run. Hurray!
Still have to get the electronic relocated, mount the cafe seat, get new lines on the front brake, and install the Hondaman ignition booster.
