Ring gap
« on: August 14, 2016, 04:57:36 PM »
Search tool is broken so I am posting a question on ring gap tolerance.
78 CB750 F getting an 836 upgrade.  Had the block bored & honed by APE.  Installing Wiseco 65mm cylinders.  They're calling for a ring gap of 0.010" for the top and 0.013" for the bottom ring.  I'm checking ring gap and getting 0.013" & 0.018".  Anyone know if this is acceptable tolerance?  I assume wider is better than too tight.  Don't want to muck this up.

I femember reading article about measuring pressure between rings for different gaps, if i recall correctly, they stopped at 0.035" gap with only marginal increase inpressure and blow by.
