If he doesn't reply by the time I get home tonight I will. That gives him 24 hours to respond. He quit replying when I told him I bought what was pictured and want what was pictured.

I've had very good luck on eBay, I'm primarily a buyer, although I did sell a car once.

There was one dirtball who didnt pack my parts properly and one part was damaged in shipping.
He initially said he would refund my money but then slow walked me. I got eBay involved and he was forced to refund me $700.
He sent some nasty emails that I just ignored, threatened to trash my name on the SOHC forums, but I never saw anything [dont think he was a member here]

I personally think there's plenty more good sellers on ebay than bad,I hope you make sure this guy gets the feedback he deserves Scott plus your parts/$.

It's not even about that. I'm not trying to come out ahead or profit from this. I just want to be made whole. There are plenty of sub $100 tanks on there that are missing the badges, petcocks, etc. But I chose this one because it had all those parts and the seller told me, over a few messages exchanged, that the tank is solid and super clean inside (and it is). Not once did he mention anything about keeping those parts.

He claims the petcock was rusty where it meets the tank and he tossed it. Well, #1....maybe it was, but when I specifically asked detailed questions about rust in or on the tank, especially around the seams and underneath, even around the petcock area, not ONCE did he mention anything about the petcock being bad.
And #2....it was no longer your petcock to make that call. I bought it.
Then he has the gall to send me a link to one on Amazon and tell me I can just purchase one there. No thanks....I already bought one...ATTACHED TO YOUR TANK.

The badges for those era tanks are hard to come by used. Even if he finds the ones he removed, what are the chances he has the tiny screws? I shouldn't have to spend a penny ordering them from Honda (and I can't find the part # right now anyway) when I PAID FOR THEM when they were attached to the tank.

Repro badges and screws are available for $42.88. Repro petcocks are available for as low as $21. I've started a request and asked for a partial refund of $64. We'll see if he does the right thing or if I have to get eBay involved.

What is this sleaze bags name? Why would he try to rip you off. Anyone selling on ebay knows what is in the picture goes. Unless otherwise stated.

I once bought a roller bearing off ebay but just as the seller was getting ready to ship it he told me the bearing was junk because he said he found out the grease in the bearing was hard, keep in mind this wasn't a sealed bearing but an open roller bearing. He immediately refunded my $ so no problems there and it was no big deal for me because I quickly found another bearing but I informed him that the "hard grease" he was describing was more than likely not grease at all but cosmoline used as a rust preventive and he may have tossed a perfectly good bearing.

Still negotiating with the seller on the gas tank. I did file with eBay just for protection.

eBay sided with me on the broken handle bars and I'll be returning those today. I assume that they'll reimburse me for return shipping. That's what the lady on the phone said last week, anyway.

If the guy with the tank makes it right, I'm fine with that. I'm frustrated that the project is on hold, though. If he had just included the parts, the tank and side covers would be at the body shop right now. Instead.... I wait.

If so, he'll end up regretting it. He claims to have the badges. I've mentioned the screws several times and he hasn't said much about them. We'll see.

Make him send you pics of the badges with your name written under them to prove it, how hard can that be for a seller like him. I've sent people additional pics through E-bay of stuff I am selling.

Scott,
I'm glad you filed a case against the Ebay seller,it's unfortunate but sometimes it's the only way to get respect.

It's not just eBay-ers, real live people can be just as bad...
Today I drove over an hour to a motorcycle salvage yard in the middle of nowhere farm country.
Three mechanics directed me right to where a wrecked '78 CB750K sat waiting to have its parts put to good use. They even lent me a few tools. About 45 minutes later I returned with an armload of miscellaneous parts - headlight housing, kickstart lever, points and clutch cover, and two plastic turn signal lenses. I was referred to "see the kid out front" to pay for my finds.
He returns from asking somebody else what to charge and informs me that I'm not allowed to buy any of it because "he wants to keep the older bikes as complete as possible" - they were willing to sell me complete new turn signals for $30 a piece though. I relayed what a waste of time they were and left.

On the handlebars, I checked the case and it showed delivered but I still haven't received a refund. I called eBay and while on the phone with them tracked it using the USPS site. It showed that the item was undeliverable as addressed and was being returned (to me). I used eBay's shipping label.
EBay has sided with me and is issuing a refund. I should know by this time tomorrow if it's in my account. Heck, I might even be getting the handle bars/controls back. But the RH one is busted and useless, so....

Still waiting on the tank situation. Still have a couple more days on it until I can go to the next step.

I almost hate to say this but if the owner Len got sick and had to stay home for at least a few months or more I think the place would prosper, his wife and the guys who work there seem fair.

His wife walked through while I was waiting, and was the most pleasant person - said hi with a smile, asked if I was being waited on, and offered to be any assistance if possible.
